An SY valley icon, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been here. Always a cool experience, good beer selection and plenty of classic dive bar atmosphere. Food is good and staff is friendly.

On a scenic drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles, a serendipitous need for a restroom led us to the charming Maverick Saloon. Bathed in the warm hues of the golden hour, the saloon beckoned us to venture beyond a mere pit stop. Covered ceiling to walls with autographed one and five-dollar bills, each bearing the personal marks of passersby and locals, it exuded a sense of community and rustic charm. Quinton, one of the friendly staff members, graciously shared the adjacent ranch-style room, once a haven for riders who would trot in for a refreshing beer. The breathtaking views of sprawling cattle and picturesque prairies added to the allure. As we engaged with fellow patrons, laughter and camaraderie filled the air, leaving an imprint on our hearts and a longing to return to this hospitable haven.

We went for dinner and we were not disappointed! We had the salmon dinner and the kale salad with salmon- both were delicious; and we shared the strawberry puff for dessert, it was so good. The bartender was our server, and she was awesome (the place was packed and she didn’t miss anything; service was great). We didn’t stay late, but both sides were busy – clearly the place to be.

Maverick’s is good for drinks, dancing entertainment and basic bar food. There attempt at entree type meals in a 1 star this includes the tri-tip sandwich, salmon dinner, steak dinner and kale burrata salad. The tri-tip was thin sliced with minimal flavor, the salmon was dry. Again drinks, dancing and onion rings and nachos were great!

If you are in Santa Ynez, you have to give this country bar a try. The atmosphere is simply great. Where else can you drive up and find horses in the parking lot. Super dog friendly, kid friendly, I so recommend going here for a burger, beer and a good time.
