We were here for a casual date and the food turned out great. I really liked the mushroom risotto as well as the fried oysters. We also ordered pork belly for appetizer, it was a little too dry for me but that’s just personal preference. Definitely get the risotto tho, and their cocktails were tasty, especially the chocolate one!

The restaurant where we had intended to eat was closed on a Monday so we stopped here, as we were walking by. We were asked if we had reservations. I answer that we did not and asked if we should. Immediately, the host checked and pleasantly welcomed us to a table.

Everything was full of flavor and delicious. Sauce that came on the steak was dream worthy. So so good! The pork chop was cooked properly and was tender and juicy. The sides were spot on, green beans had an excellent crunch. Definitely worth trying! We had an excellent and sweet waitress, Joyce. Overall, a fabulous experience.

Really enjoyed my evening at Maya. My applewood-smoked NY strip was delicious – tender, great flavor, perfect doneness and tasty saucing that complemented the meat. The two sides (mac & cheese, roasted broccoli) were also great. At $29, it’s a bargain.

A down to earth venue between downtown and the University of Virginia campus, Maya is one of Charlottesville’s true restaurant gems. From colorful, vibrant servers like Say (yes, that’s her name) to absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked food, to its collegial atmosphere, this bustling restaurant is a must for anyone visiting Charlottesville. Every bite exploded with flavor from appetizer to dessert. We were taken entirely by surprise by Maya. We had heard good things about Maya, but were not expecting this restaurant to be among the very best on our ten state tour across America’s southern states. Five out of Five stars. HIGHLY recommended.

Joyce was our server and she was absolutely phenomenal!!! Loved her so much. So welcoming and full of spirit! The food was also AMAZING. I was so impressed with the pork chop and the rockfish. 5/5 for date night. Will definitely be back!

Amazing food!! Sauces/seasonings that come on the food are 100/100. We’ve been here twice and have had different food and it’s been a great experience every time from food to our waitress/waiter. Whatever casserole side dish they currently serve is a must have and I got the whipped potatoes this time which was amazing. No matter the type of meat it always tastes amazing! Pork chops and ny steak were great! Definitely recommend their drinks as well!

Excellent service. Food comes out pretty quickly. I had the meatloaf and wife had the short ribs, both were delicious. Also I am a Cesar salad aficionado, and their homemade dressing was very good, had a nice kick to it also.

As someone who lives in NYC, I can be a bit of a food snob– not gonna lie! However, we came to Maya for my friends bachelorette and had some of the best food we’ve all had in a long time. Everything was PERFECTLY done. Of all the southern style food I’ve had in my life (even having lived in NC briefly), this was the best. The ribs were the best I’ve ever had, especially at a restaurant. Thank you to the Maya team!!
