Great food is just the half of it. You have to experience Mayflower to understand its long success. And ask for Tricia.

The redfish was delicious, and I loved how juicy and flavorful it was. The fried crabclaws were pretty good and liked the comeback sauce with it. The cornbread and rolls were pretty good, and I liked the okra. The fried green tomatoes weren’t good.

Assuming Mayflower Cafe has some historical relevance due to its longevity (+1), it is a great concept that has long seen its best days. Service was great (+4); it was downhill after the large Crab Claws appetizer (+1). All entrees looked good on presentation. The redfish (their “specialty”) was well overcooked and topped with mushy fried oysters (shrimp & crabmeat were good) on the Akropolis platter.. the fish filets on the other platters was inedible and certainly not fresh. No one finished their plates and at $30+ per plate, this was a huge miss. Leftovers are being dehydrated for fish meal. Bad night, perhaps???

We had a delicious lunch today at the Mayflower. The mahi fish tenders, fried green tomatoes, cornbread and comeback dressing were all great! Service was prompt and friendly! This is a Jackson classic!

A simple, pleasant and no-frills atmosphere with a seafood based menu. I had a silo in steak and my son had blackened catfish which we both enjoyed. The bread pudding desert was large and delicious.

We stopped here on the way home from Florida. The fresh fish selection here was better than anything we saw in Pensacola. My husband got the redfish, blackened, with fries. I had the seafood platter with veggies. It was huge, wasn’t able to eat even half. The salads were fresh with housemade dressing. The rolls were fluffy and tasty. Worth a stop!! BTW, if you want wine, bring it with you.

We got drinks and a good cannoli. You don’t expect cannoli in mid Mississippi but it was good.

It was okay especially for an older type of place to eat. Wish they had a few more food options. The crab cake was okay and the okra was fresh and hit.

Really not that good. The food was bland with little flavor. The fries had obviously sat for awhile. We sat next to the kitchen, and every time the door opened you could see how dirty it looked in there. 68 dollars with tip for three kids and two adults. None of us finished our meal.
