My husband and I had lunch today at McAllister’s Deli on 544 in Conway. (We normally dine at the McAllister’s near Coastal Grand). There was no one at the counter when we walked in and we waited a few minutes before the cashier came out – with a big attitude and seemingly annoyed that we interrupted what she was doing in the kitchen. She stood there and stared at us with an unpleasant face. No “Hello”, no “How may I help you” – she just stared at us.

In 1989 in an abandoned movie-set diner in Mississippi, the deli with the slogan “Our food is our foundation” came to be. Now, with 400 locations in 28 states “they invite you to come for the food and stay for the experience.” From the famous 13 layers of the McAlister’s Club, to the giant Spuds covered with all your favorite toppings, from the delicious sweet tea to succulent soups and decade desserts. I have dined at a number of different locations and have never had a truly bad experience. Yes, some more memorable than others. This location was commendable as soon as I walked in. Clean, bright open dining area with counter ordering and padded booths and high top tables and chairs. Sitting outside one can enjoy the patio or the second story balcony. I ordered the McAlister Club with smoked turkey, Black Forest ham, bacon, sharp cheddar, mix of greens, sliced tomato, mayo and McAlister’s Honey Mustard™ on wheat toast. I enjoyed the many layers of deli fresh meats and cheese, crisp greens and fresh produce, nicely stacked on wheat toast complimented with mayo and honey mustard. My side was the Mac and Cheese, that was hot and creamy with a nice mix of cheddar, American and Neufchatel cheese. To further enhance my deli dining experience, I picked up the Colossal Carrot Cake to go. A nice slice of moist carrot cake with walnuts and cream cheese frosting. My dessert of choice. Needless to say, the whole piece didn’t make it home. The long hair across my pickle was a slight deterrent but counter staff were quick to replace it with 3 more. Kalie was personable and our food came quick.

Racist curly haired employee who refused to help my mother and I place our order. Lackluster response from the general manager, Sarah Walters. Good food, horrible experience and incapable management.

Great place to stop in for lunch. Lots of choices of sandwiches, salads, and more. I’d rather eat here and get something healthy for the same price you’d pay for a meal at burger King or McDonald’s. So much better for you.

Usually has good quality food. My salad was missing the avocado and my husband’s salad was mostly lettuce.

I bought a cookie, but I didn’t recieve one. I guess I was supposed to pick it up myself. I did enjoy the southwest salad. And tortilla soup was comforting.

I give this 5 stars because you might expect Panera or something like it but it is WAY better. And I mean the service, food and the place itself, which is spacious and interesting. Been twice and will be back again.

How I order a full nacho and get this little bit of chili to not even cover anything. Smh do better. They were probably mad because I asked to make sure to put my stuff on the side. I never have any problems with the surfside location but appears this one

I just moved here 3 weeks ago and I’ve been trying to find my way around and see all the places to hit. This isn’t a flex just insight into me, I’m a career chef and have eaten A LOT of great food from all walks of life. I was craving a REAL good sandwich and I found McAlister’s Deli. I ordered the King Club and let me let you…..this may be the BEST sandwich I’ve EVER eaten!! Double loaded with meat and cheese, it has every thing it needs; amazing meats (turkey, ham, and bacon that’s primo!), spot on cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, bread toasted just right!!!! I ordered it again a few nights later!!! I’ll be eating here quite often!!! Tell your family, tell your friends!!!
