I wanted to like this place, but I didn’t really like it very much. The ambience was nicer than I expected from a place with “roadhouse” in its name, and the menu looked promising, hence my desire to like it. But the food wasn’t very good. We started with the “Vietnamese spiders”, which had very little flavor and my dining partner likened to styrofoam. I had the steak and fries, which wasn’t bad, but the fries were very oversalted. I tasted my dining partner’s crab cake, which didn’t have much crab in it and didn’t have much flavor. Overall, the meal wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t especially good either.

This has to be the best restaurant in Whitefish! It’s beautiful inside and out-the layout works for intimate dinners, friendly yet classy bar with one of the owners, Sandy, serving up great cocktails with a side of humor. The waitstaff (Jared!) was a terrific help with his suggestions, fantastic service and funny and friendly as well. We ate outside after a long day of hiking-we arrived half an hour early and were still invited by Sandy to enjoy the patio. I was with a group of restauranteurs who agreed that the food was sublime-we had everything from steaks to trout with appetizers and salads. Everything was beautifully plated, very generous servings, locally sourced meats, vegetables, etc. They even grow their own herbs. Oh, and the view is the best in Whitefish. Forget downtown and check out this gem. You’ll thank me. 🙂

My friend and I came in at 8pm with 3 hungry, tired, and picky boys. The hostess was incredibly gracious and even sat down at the end of the meal to chat the boys up. Our waitress was amazing. She was helpful, kind, and accommodating. Even the boys mentioned how great she was. To top it all off the food was amazing!

Really excellent fine dining restaurant, the owners Steve and Sandy know service very well. Great food–my favorite is the seasonal morel mushroom dip appetizer, pork t-bone is very good as well. Ask Sandy to make you an Irish Coffee, she makes the best one I’ve ever had!

My husband and I went to Mc Garry’s the other day, sat by the bar to have an early dinner. The food was fantastic and the owners both such good people. I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for great food and a wonderful experience. I had the Ginger tofu noodles and my husband the steak and fries (these are REAL French fries, they are so good, no ketchup needed!)

This is more of a fine dining establishment than the name implies as far as price goes. $27 for a 12 oz NY strip and $45 for a 16 oz ribeye. They don’t put the price for a filet on the menu. Also, the menu selection is pretty small. Only 2 sides available, French fries or mashed potatoes…no veggies or side salad. Service was a bit slow though it was a Saturday night. It took 5 minutes for anyone to take our drink order and 15 minutes to bring us bread. I ordered the NY strip well done and it came out medium rare.

Hit or miss with this place. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes it’s bad. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes it’s bad. The last time we went we were seated near the bar. The bartender was so loud and obnoxious that we couldn’t even enjoy our meal. She was more interested in socializing loudly with a group at one of the other tables and she was oblivious to the fact that she was spoiling dinner for several other tables. We will not be coming back.

Best place in Whitefish or Kalispell! We come back every year! Great local place. Best menu in town. Great wine (order the F by Orin Swift!). Great diverse menu of modern and comfort food, lovely ambiance. Highly recommend! Look forward to going back again this week! Love supporting McGarry’s!

Arrived fairly late and I think they were only open for 30 minutes. We were served quickly and we both had steak and a salad and some chips. The food overall was decent and correct temperature. The waitstaff was chatty which was nice too. But, I am only giving this 3 stars because it is very overpriced for Montana (most expensive place tried in the whole state!). Those coming from California or New York might find it reasonable but being a Montana resident at the time we did not. A casual survey of cars in the lot also indicated a lot of out of state people. Locals likely avoid the place.
