Y’all are insane if you judge this place on anything but the food. It’s attached to a gas station lmao. Also, it’s going to be slightly late, just expect that, but it’s worth it. I was told ready in 15, I arrived like 20 minutes after, and waited for 5 min. Worth it.

The chicken was incredible!! It gets five stars! I was really impressed by this hole in the wall chicken place. It definitely could use cleaning, and as others have said, the ambience is incredibly lacking, but it’s not an issue if you get take out The fries were also underwhelming. I got the half chicken so I could taste the white and dark meat, both great but the dark meat was much better!

I was excited to finally get McGees since they closed down on the south side of Madison, WI so we made a special trip across town almost 30 minutes for the same bland inconsistent food. We specifically went for the greens so my wife got a pork chop dinner…. wait did I mention we waited 2 hrs for there 12 Oclock open so with that said I got a 4 piece chicken dinner. We both got greens and yams but before I go in on these disappointments let’s talk about the chicken wings. For them to had just open why are fried wings soggy… AND SMELL LIKE FISH. They where lightly fried “being generous or condendsending,” and did I say it smelled like fish with a perchy after taste and I’m not sure if the sell perch all I seen was catfish. And finally the greens… why do we try to pass off canned greens as fresh greens. Smh nothing but disappointment. The best part was the little Ole lady that took my order very pleasant.

Was working in the area and stopped in for lunch take-out. The service and food was prompt and fast. The lady behind the counter was sweet and courteous. The tip jar had messages on it that helped renew my faith and faith in humanity. The wings, although simple, may be some of the best that I have had. Mild sauce was excellent. Thank you for the healing and blessings. Blessings to you as well!

Most delicious chicken and gizzards. They do food right and it stayed piping hot all the way home. It’s not a pleasant place to sit and eat though. It was not very clean and an angry customer was telling very loudly.

Lady at the front counter taking orders has a VERY VERY bad and nasty attitude, she either needs customer service classes or she needs to find herself a new place to work if she don’t like her job! Attitude was so bad that I had to cancel my order and walk out because I refuse to pay a business with poor customer service skills, I absolutely will not support any business with bad customer service skills and I’m quite sure others feel the same, no business will succeed to their full potential without good customer service. I hope things change for the better in the future, if not, GOOD LUCK TO THEM!

This place is a hidden gem. Yes the lobby is a sad place that needs a renovation. But the food is excellent. The definition of a ma n pop shop. The cod i just ate was so lightly battered and flaky on the outside. The fries were great, and the family that runs the place is so kind. Seriously give em a try. Lobby=scary, Food= Delish!
