McGill’s Restaurant & Saloon Menu – Gallatin Gateway, MT

Type : Restaurant

Location : Gallatin Gateway, MT

McGill’s is a come-as-you-are, fine dining restaurant and saloon at the 320 Guest Ranch between Big Sky and Yellowstone National Park that honors its rich history and celebrates Montana’s pioneer spirit through food, drink, and atmosphere. Open seasonally in the Summer and Winter.

We believe in connecting people to this naturally beautiful and historically rich place. We believe in the pioneering spirit, which, for us, means creating dishes and drinks from locally sourced ingredients and preparing them in new and delightful ways.

Defying social norms to do something different is what the pioneer spirit is all about. By honoring the nature around us and our history through creative food and drinks, we are keeping that spirit alive.

During an unplanned stay in Bozeman, I had the opportunity to check out the 320 Guest Ranch and McGill’s Restaurant and Saloon. They provided us with a deck of cards from the front desk and we took time to relax and enjoy the warm atmosphere. We drank unique and tasty drinks from bartender Matt. Made fools of ourselves getting every last bit of one of the best appetizers I’ve EVER had, the 320 Game and Mushrooms! Pro-tip; save any of the leftover gravy for dipping your fries into! I had fries to do this with from my Bison Rueben sandwich! The Bison on this was perfectly seasoned! Ended out sharing an order of their apple empanadas and ice cream ie., eating grandma’s apple pie in a pocket! Yum! Josh, you are an excellent chef!

McGill’s is always a delightful treat! They offer a seasonally rotating menu that’s unique, creative, eclectic and guaranteed to satisfy any palate. Service is warm, professional, and efficient. The food, I would argue, is the best in the region. My wife and I live in Bozeman, and we’ve decided that McGill’s is the best restaurant we’ve been to in a very long time. We have yet to find anyone in Western Montana who can rival the culinary magic that comes out of McGill’s kitchen. We tip our hats to everyone at McGill’s – you guys are incredible!

We were staying at the ranch and looking forward to dinner especially after seeing how good their breakfast was. However, we were beyond disappointed when every meal that we had came out bland and/or incorrect. It turns out that the main cook was tending to a wedding on site so there was someone else covering. It ruined the experience so much that they would have been better to close the restaurant for the evening than to disappoint all their patrons. All around us we saw plates getting sent back so it wasn’t just us either. I’m willing to give them another shot but it was really a terrible dinner. Only positive was how Sidney (our server) handled the mess that she was dealt. I hope this was just an isolated incident so we’ll see next time we’re back.

During our stay at 320 Ranch, we had the opportunity to eat at McGill’s for breakfast every morning and dinner one night. The breakfasts were AMAZING and something I looked forward to every morning! The dinner was also spectacular! Our server was so nice, inviting and knowledgeable and the food was delicious and also beautiful. The Brussels sprouts were the best I’ve ever had, and the rest of the food was great too! The cocktails our group ordered were all amazing as well. Even though we were so full, we still managed to fit in dessert and it fit right along with the rest of the food. A great experience all the way around!

Been a few different times now. Live in Big Sky and used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Not sure what happened but the quality does not come close to the price of the food now. Very disappointed another great restaurant in Big Sky has lost its touch.

Visited this after a week in big sky being disappointed by restaurants. It was a bit off the beaten path, but the menu looked interesting and I could get a reservation on open table (had experienced some large waits already). This ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. The bone marrow appetizer was amazing. Also the buffalo tenderloin was one of the best pieces of meat out I’ve ever had. If you are willing to drive a bit out of the way I would highly recommend.

Delicious! We loved our appetizers and dinner. The service was very attentive and friendly. And the ranch dining room was so cozy. Thank you for a great experience.

We stayed at the 320 Ranch in May for a week. We love it there.. expecially McGill’s Restaurant & Saloon! We ate breakfast and dinner there. Both were fresh and delicious!! I think by the time we left, we had tried everything on the menu! Great food, great folks. We’ll be back!!

Great place, The food has gone downhill with the Seasonal Staff. Christmas Sleigh Ride was Great! We have done it 3 Times as a Family. We always get Dinner Afterward, and years past the food was Excellent! This time though, Bone Marrow App, was undercooked, Slimy and not buttery. We ordered 3ea $80 “Cowboy Cut” Ribeye Steaks. I’m not picky, but it was Complete Garbage and a Low Grade Cut. Cold in the middle, appeared to be precooked and then burnt on the grille. The service was good, Except the Server sold us on the “Cowboy Cut Ribeye” and then didn’t offer any refund, even though the meal was uneaten. Under seasoned, undercooked side Vegetables. I Took it home to feed the Dog… Merry Christmas Little Puppy!
