What a divine little surprise to find in a strip mall. There weren’t a lot of options for restaurants within walking distance of the hotel we were staying at, but we decided to try it. Hubby and I ordered a Cobb salad and a Greek salad with gyro meat along with a couple of local brews. The salads were delicious and the portions large enough to have another dinner the following evening. Although the place is small, it’s warm and inviting and the service very good as well.

McGivney’s Sports Bar & Grill located in the valley in that (weird) Mendenhall Mall, is a place ‘not to be missed’. We moved here three weeks ago, and it has become a favorite of ours. Everything you would expect from an Irish bar; good food, great drink and atmosphere. What really makes this a favorite for us is the great service and the personal connection from Betty the Bartender. She always welcomes us, and makes us feel like the locals we are trying to become. She is fantastic–and makes a mean Manhattan.

Great atmosphere. Love going for a late lunch with my hubby. Today I ordered their burger with American cheese and upgraded my fries to sweet potato fries. Hubby had the Philly cheese steak. We were both very pleased with the food as well as the service and cleanliness of the booth we sat in and the general areas.

I always thought this location kept its prices low for locals. It just feels exactly like the downtown version now. Smaller menu, high prices, not great food in terms of options or quality. I remember the food being better in the past.

Great local eatery. The fish and chips are great. I had the powder box burger and it was amazing. We tried the buffalo cheese curds and they were wonderful. 4 stars because the service could have been a little better. Was still an overall great experience.

Would have been a better experience had they told us not to use the paper menus they gave us for pricing. Turns out the QR menus are accurate not the printed ones we ordered from. Significantly higher on the QR menu. When brought to the attention of the person sent to talk to us her response was the waitress said she told you and I believe her. So apparently we’re liars. Neither my husband nor myself heard her say anything about the paper menus not having accurate information. Why would you even give out menus without current prices?? Somebody needs to learn how to use white out and write in the current pricing. Poor business practice for sure.

As someone who lived in Boston, I wasn’t expecting much coming to an Irish bar in Alaska, but I was blown away at how amazing it was inside. Great food with amazing vegan options or easy to make good vegan. Staff was great and attentive and the TV’s were large and plentiful.
