This place is a hidden gem. Absolutely recommend you try it once & more. Don’t forget to try one of their fabulous desserts, they’re all delicious. I had the coconut cake. My moms had the hummingbird & cheesecake. We ordered the Chicken Marsala & Shrimp Fettuccine❤❤❤. We ate every bite we could. Beautiful selection of wines & perfect little dinning nuk. We will be coming back. Well worth the trip.

Food is all homemade! The pork rinds and pimento cheese is amazing! Hamburgers are great. Grilled chicken salad was very good and the smoked brisket very tender and not overly smoked. Waitstaff could be a tad better….reordered wine…wrong wine, had to ask for water, ordered salad with dressing on the side, came with dressing…but the salad was good!

We arrived here at 645 on Saturday night, they close at 9. There were a total of 6 diners in the entire establishment. After waiting several minutes after entering and still not seeing anyone who seemed to work there, a woman in a chefs jacket appeared from around the corner, did not even acknowledge us standing there, and went behind the bar and began reading a liquor bottle. A few minutes later another woman popped around the corner and looked at us and asked if we had reservations to which we replied no (their website does not say reservations required). She then told us they weren’t taking any more people that night.

I don’t want to minimize our restaurants here at the Lake. There are several that are very good. Well Meat Fork and Cork is a FANTASTIC find. For Special occasions we would go to Roanoke or Lynchburg no more. We were with 4 couples last evening who had Pork to fish and beyond. All were delicious especially the Shrimp Scallops Fettuccine and the Shrimp and Grits. Reservations are required and it is a short drive from Westlake but worth it. DON’T pass up the dessert. Seafood is fresh daily and the owner is the Chef who mingles with clientele time permitting.

So excited to have a nice restaurant in Penhook. The menu changes daily but she usually always has a pasta dish, seafood, beef, chicken, appetizers and sandwiches. The salmon is out of this world with a spinach creme sauce. The seafood fettuccine is always a good choice. Folks, this is a gourmet meal establishment but she usually has smaller meals such as a open faced shrimp po boy or steak sandwich if you want something lighter. She has a full bar and great wine selection. It is so nice to go here and have a nice meal with a glass of wine locally without having to drive to roanoke or danville. Please come out and support this wonderful LOCAL restaurant. It’s what everybody has been wanting close to home so come give it a try. Seating is limited. She had plenty of staff. She has already cut out Monday nights for lack of support so get off the sofa and come on out. Owner informed us she used to be the chef for the US congress!! We just experienced the Virginia wine dinner on March 21, 2019. WOW! Fabulous!! EVERY SINGLE MEAL we have had here has been out of this world. Please come out and support this restaurant and it’s hard working staff. Better than The Landing folks. You won’t believe the steak and fish.

We were the people who were there when they first open the doors now can’t even get in without a reservation. I won’t be making reservation when I walk in and there’s open tables and you won’t even interested in serving me. I won’t be back service isn’t that good anyway. Food is fair. Used to recommend but never again!
