My son had his wedding reception at Melvin’s on the back patio and the dock. Although it was very hot because they chose an outdoor venue in july, it was a great setup. If you are considering renting the venue as an event, please check it out and be prepared to bring fans, portable air conditions, or cooling towers in the summertime. The buffet style food line went smoothly and the food was outstanding.

This is a good place for a “fancy date”. However, the food isn’t worth what you pay for it. The portions are small and the food is bland or simply doesn’t taste well at all. The drinks are on the weaker end. But the servers and the service was great. Overall. I’d go again if I couldn’t pick where to go.

Some of the tastiest and fresh fish is here. Just caught. Happy service is here too. Enjoy the view and a delicious cocktail. Fresh flounder. The landscape is a great collection of plants. Reservations are a must.

They are understaffed, and all of the chairs were worn. The catfish was very good. The creamed spinish was out of this world! But the rice was bland. The chocolate peanut butter pie was horrible.

As senior citizens, we wanted our wedding to be remembered by all in attendance as a magical day. Due to the destruction of Hurricane Ida, our choices for a location were somewhat limited. On a recommendation, we visited Melvin’s Restaurant where we sat and planned our wedding with Karla and Beatrice. They were cooperative, supportive and provided suggestions that were spot on.

We are not too familiar with the area so we felt pretty awkward walking into the restaurant on a Saturday evening after being on the boat. It’s a nicer restaurant that takes reservations but they were able to seat us even though we did not have them. The waitstaff was very nice, the atmosphere is comforting & the food is so good. We got the blackened Mahi Mahi, the veal something (can’t remember) & the hamburger steak & we all loved our food. We will definitely be back!

The flounder was fantastic! First time I’ve ever ordered it – and so glad the staff recommended it. Finished the meal with a delicious cheesecake. Every you hope for from a Louisiana kitchen, but don’t always get.

This was like dining at a a hidden gem that was ticked away on the waterway of Houma, Louisiana. The second generation of this establishment is doing a great job of serving some of the finest cuisine in the Houma area. The view is stunning from each seat in the restaurant. The food is fresh for each and every person who makes an order. The staff is swift and perfect in the service of the table.
