I really enjoyed this small quaint restaurant. The waitress was down to earth and inviting the hostess as well. The good came really quick, and it was tasty. I’m not a fan of diced tomatoes in my collards, but I managed. The fish was fried perfectly, and mom seemed to enjoy her meatloaf. She got 3 pieces. I had the fried fish and shrimp creole, and it did not disappoint. It came with one piece of fish, but it was plenty for me.

Had a new server very friendly. Had not tried the food and being first time a little disappointing when asking what to get. The fried green tomatoes were awesome. Crispy and the remoloude sauce awesome. Cornbread awesome. Fried chicken good, green beans ok. Meat loaf moist we thought avg. Mac and cheese was good. Atmosphere was awesome.

The food was decent but I really expected to better. Catfish was a bit greasy. The salmon was mushy. The green beans were bland the sampler and the wings were good. Great location to walk to if you are staying at any hotel in the area or just waiting for a show at the spectrum arena.

I got the dining experience of a lifetime at ‘ in Charlotte! First soul food restaurant in NC I was told. The service was wonderful and the food was awesome. I ordered a sampler with soul roll, chicken, and salmon croquettes. I also ordered ribs, greens macaroni, and a tiger woods ☕️ ice tea and lemonade. Can’t wait to return to try other dishes

Not impressed. We got a to go order. I got ribs and fish combo. First the ribs and fish was together in the container so the fish was swimming in BBQ sauce, I called their response “o well you should have told us to pack it separately” common sense would tell you to at least wrap the fish separately. Why would you let that happen? The Mac was dry, yams were bland, greens had tomatoes and onions on top (weird), meatloaf was overcooked. Needless to say not happy. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, so I know what I’m talking about.

My first time ordering from Mert’s when we decided to try something different for a working lunch. Wow! Pretty impressed. A huge variety of menu choices. Others had sandwiches that looked great and some of us went with salads. What can I say about my fried chicken finger salad? Yum. Now this is a salad! I mean look at all the toppings and everything was fresh!

My family and I had dinner here. We’re from NY. There were four of us. We were greeted immediately. Our waiter was awesome!! The food is great. We didn’t really care for the collards, they have tomatoes and raw onions on top. The black eyes peas didn’t meet our expectations, but everything else was great. The cabbage was good. The ribs are tender and juicy. The mac and yams were great. The soul rolls are a great appetizer. I could do without the mustard on them. The chicken tenders were perfect!! I’d go again!!

My rule of thumb is never trust the reviews. This isn’t one of those places. I absolutely loved it. The staff are incredibly fast and friendly. The food tasted pretty good. I’ll be honest almost fought my girlfriend over the cornbread and her beef ribs.
