Food was amazing and has that home cooked flavor! I got the pot roast with Mac and cheese and yams. The pot roast was juicy and flavorful, the Mac and cheese was great and the yams were amazing!!! I tasted the greens, not a fan, the flavor wasn’t there. The cornbread was perfect! Service was slow but we were there around dinner time. Staff was so nice and just felt homey. I highly recommend if you are looking for a good ‘home-cooked’ meal.

My oxtails, Mac n cheese and corn bread were delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection. Although the collard greens were cooked well, I like mine with much more seasoning. Overall, definitely going back!

All I can say is that everything at this place was amazing they let me sample a couple of items and I was Sol on everything. The meatloaf is not your traditional meatloaf it is in a gravy and the pork chops and roasts are both very extremely tender! The gravy is an absolute must the greens are great the macaroni is well seasoned and even has a cheesy crust on top I give this place five stars! I will definitely be returning to try the other items but tonight I’m definitely going to be full LOL!

Went today and the food was fantastic. Greens were fire, Mac n cheese was the best I’ve EVER had, I mean good good. Yams were terrific as well. I had the pot roast with potatoes and carrots tender and wonderfully delicious. I will definitely be going back, if you’re looking for amazing soul food, Messi Soul Kitchen in Riverside is the spot. Go check it out please, you’ll love it.

Food was delicious. But customer service was very poor. The communication between the person taking order and cook was unacceptable. Wasn’t informed that there was a wait for the meat that I ordered and wasn’t given an option to choose another meat that was available. Waited 1hr for my food. But besides that food was delicious and would go again. Hopefully the next experience will be better than my first.

When I say this soul food was on point it was so so good! Everything the baked chicken/rice, the macaroni and cheese, the yams even the banana pudding was delicious! Thank you so very much!
