We came in when Modern Apizza was WAY too busy and I’m glad we did. The Truffle Honey Pizza is absolutely fantastic, and the vibe in the bar area is quiet, comfy and cozy. Great staff, great food, and good drink choice. Definitely a hidden gem.

This restaurant has great options for dairy free, lactose free, or vegan pizza. Being lactose intolerant it is hard to find a place with good lactose free pizza. This place has great dairy free cheese. They also had good normal pizza as the others I was with got pizza normal cheese and enjoyed it as well

Cool place, but the bartender was late, so I couldn’t get a cocktail. The food was very substandard, the meats tasted old on our pizza, meatball appetizer was bland and the meatballs dry and flavorless, and had a strange texture. Disappointing at best. This place has potential, the food and service need serious improvement.

Had a slice of Michelina’s penne pasta pizza at the Apizza festival in New Haven after being recommended it by a few locals. I’m always willing to try something new, so I went ahead and bought a slice to try. The taste overall was alright- the sauce was a bit bland in my opinion. The pasta added an interesting texture to the pizza, but I thought it would be best to be left off overall. The crust was flavorful, but less crispy than traditional New Haven style pizza. If you enjoy pasta on pizza, you should give this a try, though!

Monday night, when returning from NYC, we had 9 very hungry passengers, 2 little kiddos and 7 adults. We stopped at places but all had waiting time of 1.5+ hours (I know it was only 5:30 but…). So my wonderful chiquita who is all of 26, found Michelina’s (858 State St, New Haven CT). We were amazed at the kind staff, service, ambiance, attention to detail, willingness to work with gluten free product (for one of our little ones), and reasonable pricing. Pizza and all things ordered were delicious. To say we were pleased is not enough! Our rating is 5.0+!

Whooaaaa whoaaaa whoa, folks. Im giving 1 star for the sake of the pizza crust because, by far, that’s the only thing that saved the pizza. Why is the sauce so sweet?? I just have so many questions! I’m heart broken. Of all the pizza in New Haven, my dad decided on this due to most pizzerias being closed for the Holiday. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be willing to try again and cannot say that we’d recommend this in the slightest bit. I’m going to post pictures on this disgraceful pizza!! If I could give this place zero stars I would!! This place don’t even deserve 1 star. I have never taste pizza like this in my life!!! Very very disappointed!! First of all, the people that are making these pizzas are not clean. I didn’t see anyone wash their hands inbetween making the pizzas. These people don’t seem like they know anything about making pizza. The pizza definitely is not made the Italian way. I was expecting Italian tasting pizza, not Mexican pizza, whatever that is. The pizza had no sauce, or if it did, it was very little. The crust was hard on the outside which was good, but soggy on the inside. Everything on the pizza was soggy and goowy!!! And as I was eating it, it had something gritty in it, may have been dirt or something that got in it. I paid close to $28 for this pizza. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN will they get my business. And when paying for the pizza at take out, I added a tip on the receipt not know what I was about to encounter, but when I asked if I can get a little oil to put on the pizza, they had the nerve to tell me it was an extra dollar, smh… of course I wasn’t going to give these people an extra dollar after paying close to $28 and a tip, I’m so glad I didn’t. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I wish I would have read the reviews first.
