So, I went for a late lunch. I arrived at around 2. I thought I would beat the rush. Maybe it’s because it’s a new burger joint in North Portland. It took 30 minutes in the drive through. Maybe go inside and order, it may save some time. I ordered the Mike’s Deluxe Burger Basket. It was delicious! The egg, the special sauce and cheese was a great combination. I also got a Marion berry shake. So, the wait was worth it. I will be returning.

The staff was among the best around! Positive experience. The shake needed a little more stirring since there was a lot of the mix-ins at the bottom but there’s always that fine line between just enough mixing and too much that renders your would be perfect shake runny. I saw clam strips and fish on the menu in addition to the huge selection of shakes instead of the usual finds. We will definitely go back.

Great little space. There’s a counter and a row of booths. Everything is clean and well organized. Parking is plentiful and easy to get in and out of. The line inside moved quickly and there’s outdoor seating.

I got the all-American combination. The burger was pretty good. However, possibly because they just opened, it took 35+mins to get through the drive-through. The kid who took my order stated the price was higher than the menu stated (with no add on’s, or additions) and when I finally got to the window, my order was incorrect, and they still charged me the wrong price. Not by a lot, but consistency on price would be nice. That said, I’m glad a local burger place opened in my hood, and I hope they iron out the kinks.

The burgers are good, the rest is decent, but the pricing is high and the ice cream is randomly unavailable. They’re as bad as McDonald’s with it. You have no idea after sitting in a long drive through line that you can’t get soft serve on a hot summer day. So many people were leaving as soon as they went to order because honestly, you can get decent burgers and fries anywhere. American food is plentiful. But good shakes are not as easy to get and are a go-to for most people, especially on hot days. Especially at an all American burger and shake place. But if they don’t have them, it’s not worth the wait or the money. You could go get a better custom or more artesianal burger from one of the million pubs and bars doing interesting burgers with higher quality ingredients and less grease for the same price or less. So call ahead if you want a shake because there are no guarantees.

I have been to Mike’s a handful of times since they opened. It’s really nice to have a burger spot like this in NoPo, but the food just isn’t what I hoped. You cannot get a burger with American cheese, which I believe is quintessential to a burger experience, and if you get it to go, they put the burgers in these foil lined bags that steam the burger, so you get to enjoy a soggy bun and re-solidified, Tillamook cheddar ( again, great cheese, just not burger cheese). The hotdogs are decent and so are the clam strips. I’d love to see them make the brioche bun the standard, add American cheese to the menu, and wrap the burgers in a light paper instead of sticking them in the foil bags. The service is always friendly, sometimes they are just backed up which is fine if your burger is amazing.

One of my favorite soft serve ice cream destinations. You can’t beat the price, and the ice cream is, well creamy, and delicious! I also love their burgers and fries. It’s not the fastest place or the fanciest but it’s really good. I prefer my food made to order so the wait is a necessary trade off for a fresh hot meal. Every time I’m in the Portland area, Mike’s is one of my favorite stops.

The person taking my order seemed indifferent, not bad though, she did make good suggestions. I didn’t like being asked if I wanted to leave a tip at the end of ordering. In this sense, it’s like McDonald’s. I ordered the spicy fries, very dry on the inside, disappointed. The bottom bun of my regular burger was totally saturated fairly soon after ordering it. Standard burger, decent.

They got our order completely wrong! SMH. The cod sandwich is burned! Hard as a brick. And the burger is extremely bland. No flavor…. But the shakes are good… this was not worth $30!
