This place has very fresh ingredients. The pasta looks and tastes homemade. I went here for HRW(Houston Restaurants Week) to try out the food. I loved the fresh bread and gnocchi. It looks like the menu might change for different seasons. I will definitely be back to have some gnocchi. The staff was very kind and friendly. Danielle was our server which was very nice and kept our drinks full. If you are looking for some good Italian based food then visit here and they have a happy hour every day from 5 to 6.

I enjoyed my experience at Mimo. We were greeted by the friendly hostess and our server was equally as pleasant. The meal itself was fresh and full of flavor. I’ll say that the lamb was my favorite and just fell apart. Excellent wine list, I didn’t notice until after we ordered but that had a wine from Sardinia that I’ll have to get next time. Our server surprised us with an excellent dessert wine offering to accompany our dessert.

Went to dinner here on a Friday night last month for my birthday. It was only the second night of dinner service so I was prepared for things to not run smoothly. Joke was on me! The service was impeccable and the food was really really good. They have a tight menu which is nice because we didn’t feel overwhelmed by options. The lamb pasta was probably my favorite dish but it was honestly a toss up because everything was so good. My husband loooved the duck breast. Looking forward to coming back here often!!

We wanted to get take out and had read about this place, so we decided to give it a try. I was only picking up to go but was surprised about how nice the place was, and then the sandwiches we got were great. We are definitely coming back for a proper italian dinner date.

They recently opened for dinner service on Saturday so we went last night and the flavors of the food were so good! There’s a lot of good Italian restaurants around and most of the time it’s good but doesn’t w0w me but this place did! Each dish had a good combo of flavors and was well balanced. I would def recommend and will be back to try other things! More casual vibe but really good food! I loved the olive oil on the panacotta!

Cozy place with lots of tables. Very uncomfortable chairs. Good amount of parking. Looks like they have a patio but it’s ungodly hot right now so we didn’t get to enjoy it this visit. Excellent wine list, especially if you are into the natural wines. They offer half glasses so I got to enjoy 3 different wines. Tried the whipped ricotta which was delicious, almost dessert like in sweetness and texture. Rack of lamb with sweet potato mash and brocolini for the entree. Lamb wasn’t trimmed properly and didn’t seem seasoned at all. The sweet potatoes were somehow sour? Nothing was listed on the menu with them to make them this way so my mouth was very confused. Broccolini was fine. I was torn between 3 dishes and this was the one the server recommended. I’m sure I will go back again and hope to try something different to see if I like it any better, maybe the pasta.

First off the atmosphere of this “Italian” restaurant is no where to be found when you walk in. From the moment you park, you can tell that this once was a different style of restaurant. Our first guess was Mexican. However, after reading up on the restaurant, we found it used to be a Thai restaurant. The new owners just pulled up the old carpeting, painted the walls and ceiling in a very uninviting color palette. The chairs are very uncomfortable, so even though the menu says to sit back & relax, not in those chairs are you going to relax. The walls have pictures in Americana motif and in no way can you tell that you are in an Italian restaurant. Ok, I’m good with that if the kitchen is going to impress me . First, our waitress was attentive, but not overly so. And this is the second restaurant in a week that forgot to bring our wine when ordered. After we reminded her, she brought it quickly. The wine selection is small, priced ok, but there were really no high quality wines to choose from. We ordered the bread service, the bread was underwhelming & needed some salt. The olive oil & balsamic vinegar mixture for the bread was good but again, needed some oomph to bring it over the top. My husband, who is Italian, ordered the spaghetti & shrimp. He said that the pasta was cooked a tad too much, but the flavors were good. Not great, but good. I ordered the sweet potato appetizer & it was spicy, had a nice presentation but it needed salt. For dessert we ordered the pana cotta & it was a nice portion size but WAY TO SWWET! The pana cotta was creamy & good, but the sauce on top killed the entire dish; it was so sweet we couldn’t eat it after a couple of bites. Overall impression, didn’t like the atmosphere, thought the food was just ok. As far as an Italian restaurant, not so much. Maybe Italian influenced, but not Italian.

Amazing. Panini are excellent and there is more. We had both the eggplant and the prosciutto. Orchiette was vibrant and delicious. The radicchio salad was a perfect complement to all. Wine selection is limited but only in number as the variety and quality are more than enough. Our panna cotta was as fresh, delicate, and delicious as I’ve ever had. A jewel. Can’t wait to return for dinner.

I do not want to leave this review because I do not want all of Houston to know of the newest hidden gem in the East End. Mimo was a delightful place for dinner and the food could not be more authentic. Every bite was flavorful and thoughtful — actually, the entire experience was flavorful and thoughtful. Excited to have such a lovely restaurant in the East End and will be coming back for the fantastic duck and pasta.
