When I moved to Pittsburgh everyone told me this was THE spot. I just tried it, definitely did not live up to the hype. The pizza wasn’t good unfortunately, we ate two pieces and tossed the rest. Toppings were canned. It was kind of pricey too, IMO. The staff was friendly though, and they were open a little later than the other spots.

There’s a lot of great pizza in Pittsburgh but mineos is a part of the holy trinity. 3 pizza shops that have been around forever and consistently offer the best around. Worth a drive if you’ve never been

I can see why this place is popular. The staff is very friendly, it has a long history and is a Pittsburgh staple, and the pizzas are loaded with cheese — it is by no means bad. However, I found the pizza to be slightly below average and overpriced in comparison to the going rate for Pittsburgh pizza (2 large one topping pizzas and a sandwich was over $60). The cheese itself tasted a bit bland and didn’t have that slightly aged hint found in the best Pittsburgh pizzeria cheese blends. For my taste, the cheese was a bit too abundant, though many folks may prefer this. The toppings were not bad but also nothing special in my opinion — pepperonis were standard thin and flat circles without much flavor/spices (likely purchased in bulk), not the smaller thicker slices with curled tips that you always hope for on a pizza. This place is definitely worth trying as many may fall in love with the pizza if you don’t care much about flavor profiles and just want a thick cheesy pizza. Just make sure to bring cash to pay and to have someone to drive with to pick up the pizza if you do takeout since parking is not good during busy times.

Food, atmosphere, staff were excellent. Only complaint was our food did not come out altogether and I ordered a calzone with green olives but got green peppers. Fortunately, the small pizza we ordered for our son and appetizers were plenty of food. The waitress and Mrs. Mineola offered to remake my calzone but I opted to share pizza, instead. The place is spotlessly clean and fairly priced.

One of the best pies you will ever have. There is a reason this place started in 1958 and still going strong. Great Sicilian pie (pictured) as well.

The Italian sub was so full of flavor! Love that there is pizza by the slice too!

I’m a transplant so this was my first time eating here, but I’ve heard so many people say how good Mineo’s is and I was looking forward to checking out the hype…this is the first pizza I’ve ever disliked so much that I had to throw it away. We ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, spinach, and onions. The spinach was clearly canned and there was SO much of it that it overpowered everything else and tasted disgusting. Even my boyfriend who LOVES spinach on his pizza was peeling the stuff off. Not to mention the price! $30 for a pizza with canned ingredients is simply unacceptable.

Usually the pizza is top notch, but the pizza they just served me BARELY had sauce on it. I am highly disappointed, considering I spent $30 for ONE pizza.

Pizza here is good. Fresh. Clean place. Can see them making it in front of you. The produce is good: the pizza doesn’t leak oil and grease when done. Don’t ask for a gluten free one though, it will take them an hour to make one and during that they’ll continually tell you “ten minutes”. That was a deal breaker for me.
