Right upon walking into this divine establishment, I knew I was about to indulge in some quality cuisine. The ambiance inside was inviting and dim, which made great for some good grub and nice wine with some friends. We had been waiting to go here for some time now, and it was surely worth the wait. It was quite the stormy evening and our table was placed at the front, with a window above us, so we got to enjoy the rest of the lightning storm and the hazed sky at dusk.

It had rained all week and the weather had finally broken Friday evening and we got to sit outside and the fans and atmosphere were great.

Imagine, you walk past a peach colored building but stop when you see a huge red wall that reads “Mission Pizza” you smell the robust flavors from a decadent tomato sauce, mouth watering bread is so intrusive to your sinuses it gives you goosebumps….. mission pizza may not have glass windows to watch the dough being massaged from onlookers and passerby, but it has what most other pizza spots lack, Ambiance. This is not an adjacent to or alternative of a Chain restaurant like you would find in downtown Winston Salem. This is a pizza lovers experience. It does not stop there, you walk in and if you do not request the bar, you are missing an integral piece of this 5000 piece puzzle. The craft. While seated at the bar, you have a front row seat to meticulously arranged dishes and a smell like none other. You watch each order enter and leave the scorching hot pizza oven under the close eye of the chefs watching, reorganizing, and spending the correct amount of time needed to insure a perfect dish. The communication was what I loved about this place, the waiter who took my order made sure I know why the specials were so special. As each order left the oven it was given a final dash of cheese or an extra sprinkle of seasoning. These people LOVE what they are doing and to see art preformed is well worth the price of admission. You will not be disappointed. My food was gone before I could take a picture…..

Weird menu, would be hard to decipher if you weren’t fluid in pizza making.

We tried their Pizzakase today and it was delicious. We added the lobster course and amazing. We tried to prepare by not eating too much beforehand and we still came home with pizza. They served us so much delicious food. Their pizza crust was light and chewy. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into only using the best ingredients. The PizzaKase not only included pizza, it also included an awesome salad, risotto, and dessert too. Everything we tried was wonderful. We can’t wait to go back.

The pizza is good, but the pizza menu options are lacking. You should be able to build a pizza the way you want it, instead of being given 4 or 5 pizza options. The lighting is very poor too. I guess they were going for a romantic atmosphere, but it was so dark we couldn’t see the menus until our eyes adjusted and we still struggled.

Went for the experience, which was a prefix menu served family style. Atmosphere was nice but was promised a foodie creative experience. 5 courses . Adding guanchali to the tomato arugula salad did not make it creative the best part were the fried croutons, muscle were nothing special, pizza was good but the pasta dish was not edible, the pasta was raw and crunchy and the waiter tried to tell this NY Italian that’s the way it was supposed to be. Sent it back and I’m pretty sure they just brought back the same bowl, I did not find it creative at all. It’s good for pizza and salad. The worst part was they added the tip to the bill , and then gave me the sheet and it said I should add the tip, so I paid the tip twice. We were 3 people, they should not have added the tip to the bill. Go only for pizza and salad .

Pasta was good. Pizza seemsd tasty as well. The staff was very friendly and ressponsive. The atmosphere was cozy, however, the 3 stars rating is because the inside of the restaurant was too dark – couldn’t see the menu, and the music was a bit too loud. Was hard to have a discussion with the person across the table.

Great food, or so I am told. After ordering, only the appetizer and drinks arrived. 45 minutes later still no pizza. Our server forgot to put in our order. She was too busy chatting with a coworker at the bar. So disappointed I may never get to try Mission’s famous pizza.

The food was amazing. Bring along a big appetite . The service was great. Dining area is dimly lit so bring a flash lit to read the menu .
