We heard from this new location in Palo Alto and honestly there are only a few good sushi spots in the area. They have not too many ratings, but today we couldn’t wait till 5pm till all the others are opening and chose this one as they open at 4.30pm.

This place has a perfect five star rating with 50ish reviews so I was a bit skeptical but excited to try. It definitely met my high expectations. They have a good-sized selection of rolls, everything was fresh and tasty and beautifully presented, and it was reasonably priced for sushi. They’re also open late which is so so rare in bay area. The inside is nice and spacious, generally nice vibes. I’ll definitely be back!

Closes late. Our server said he was first day brand new which you can tell. He was different with other tables tho. The sashimi fish is good not bad but they are over the top with the flowers they put in the bowl for design. A bit off. Small spot. They serve cashew shrimp rolls which is interesting and different. Over all not bad.

OK so my wife and I wanted to try this sushi place out. The one that caught our eye about this place are the generous pricing especially in the Bay Area. The place is not that bad but it’s very basic. We were seated next to the restroom since there’s only 2 of us. We had to wait at least 12 minutes before we were served. We noticed our waitress was taking care of people that was before us, maybe because they were a party of 3.

We ordered MJ Sushi for the first time last night on Door Dash. I used to live in Japan and am still surprised about how few good sushi restaurants there are in the area. We were very happy with the quality of the food and the freshness of the sushi. The miso soup was even fresh and good (often not the case) My only complaint was that Door Dash fee (even with Dash Pass) was high for this restaurant. Next time I’ll dine in or pickup.

Best spot in Palo Alto with reasonably priced and *excellent* sushi. My husband and I first found MJ’s one Sunday when we were both hangry and disappointed in the lack of open sushi places with good ratings. We are so glad we found this place and have been 3 times in the last month!! The fish is always fresh, staff very friendly and they even offer a free first drink. Now the decor is minimal – so don’t expect high end restaurant interior here but in our opinion amazing food outweighs decor any day. Must try.
