For the 1st time in a long time, I was not up to cooking Sunday dinner. I remembered Momma Dede’s as being a part of an upcoming black restaurant week so I decided to give them a try. I can’t describe the food and the service with a word beyond excellent. The rib tips was tender and the smoked wings delicious. Even my critical husband, who ordered a hamburger, was pleased. He said the burger was one of the best he had however wished he would have ordered more. Southern cooking at its best. The lady that took our order was pleasant and professional. We’ll be back.

Season
It was really good plus the portions are huge. I got the 3 meat BBQ plate with baked beans and macaroni with pound cake and it was literally enough to feed 3 people. The baked beans were made like I like them with ground beef in it and mix that with the cornbread = #Yummy. I’m going on a fast, but as SOON as it’s done, I’ll be back.

Every time I get food from here it is AMAZING. Everything is fresh and hot. The owner is pleasant and for the most part always has what I want if I order on time. I have tried several things on the menu and I am never disappointed. I still want the breakfast to come back.

‼️PLEASE READ‼️ I’m a major Google reviewer and read reviews before trying any restaurant, but this time, I didn’t read reviews beforehand being that my friend referred me. I’m so glad she did!!! Everybody’s taste buds and opinions are different, but if you go off of any review, go off of mine. I’m not a picky eater but I am particular. First off customer service was exceptional! That’s number one when going into a restaurant for the first time. Wait time was faster than expected, I went to the car and the customer leaving told me my food was ready. I’m from the southside, but reside in Griffin. So the drive from Hampton to Griffin, I assumed my food would be look warm…not the case. My food was still hot and EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING was delicious. I 100% tell the truth weather I like the business or not. The cornbread was thick and moist with a jalapeño kick. Rib tips literally fell off the bone and I was excited that I had extra bbq sauce but really didn’t need it. Collard Greens were sweet with a kick, no salt and pepper needed. Mac n cheese was delicious and extra cheesy, I will say, I would’ve liked a little crispy cheese in it. The peach cobbler was delicious with the right amount of crust and lastly, the Cornbread dressing…mmmm mmmm it’s giving Sunday dinner on a Friday. It well over a bang for your buck! Don’t let the side’s containers fool you, it was more than enough. I will most certainly be back for this great tasting home style cooking.

Service was reasonably fast considering it’s cooked to order. I ordered for carryout so I forgot to take pictures when I got home. But let me tell you, those rib tips, candied yams, baked beans, Mac and cheese, greens Awesome! I wasn’t crazy about the jalapenos in the cornbread but that’s a personal preference. It would be nice if they offered plain ole fashioned cornbread. That’s my only negative. But service is friendly and I Love that You can’t go wrong. Just a heads up, they are closed Monday and Tuesday!

My wife and I have been here a few times after church service and was fairly pleased with the food. I had the smoked chicken and she had the smoked rub tips. I must say they have the best smoked chicken on the soufside! The sides however are a hit or miss depending on how you like your sides. They cook with jalapeños in the mac and cheese and in the cornbread. Having it in the cornbread isn’t too bad, but having it in the mac takes away if you ask me. The greens are good and so are the baked beans but we didn’t care too much for the string beans. Overall, we will continue to get the meat and be selective on the sides. For dessert, I tried the sweet potatoe pie. It was just ok. But they do give you four individual pies so that was great.

This is my 3rd time here. This place DOES NOT miss a beat!!! I know everything else is delicious, but I can’t stop ordering the rib tips and sausage!!! The Collard greens are literally the best I’ve ever had. And the cornbread?? Perfection!!! It’s very large portions as well.
