Attention African Americans. Momma’s Place Soul Food Retaurant of Linden, N.J. is the place to go if you want real SOUL FOOD. This is your southern grandma’s soul food. Everything there is delicious. The fried whiting was flaky and luscious, the fried chicken was succulent and juicy, the smothered pork chops were flavorful and tender, the apple pie was (made from scratch) exquisite and the pound cake was truly delectable. And… that corn bread was…. oh so good! The food is first quality and it was freshly prepared. The portions were big and the prices are really good! Everything was seasoned the way we southerners are used to it. The restaurant was clean, (the bathroom was ‘bleach’ clean), and on top of all this positivity, the service was friendly and attentive. You can’t ask for anything more… except for 2 forks… so you can eat faster (laughing).

Poor customer service! Employee who answered the phone to take my order was very impatient and rude. – Bad tone.. I ultimately canceled my order. My first experience ordering food at Momma’s Place in Linden, NJ was satisfactory but today was unacceptable. Perhaps, the employee was just having a bad day. It appears there are similar issues with poor customer service on this website. Obviously there is an issue. Small business owners should understand that new customers are important and retaining existing customers are just as important. I’m sort of in between the two. The customer can always take their cash somewhere else. Please address the customer service issue. This is not a complaint but an opportunity to make things better. Thanks, Concerned Customer.

I Hate to leave a review like this,but it’s my honest truth. Well let’s just say I will not be ordering again. I waited 30 minutes for so called fresh food. The baked Mac and cheese was unseasoned,the mixed greens unseasoned the fish was ok mild seasoning. Just not what I expected from a soul food place.

Horrible, this was my first time calling this place my husband and I were excited when I called to order his dinner and his two sides two women one that answered the phone and another said I couldn’t order 4 sides I wanted for myself they said ” that’s too much you’re going to have to put one of them back. Horrible customer service and ownership. We will never try and order there again it was terrible customer service. I am a paying customer I should be able to order what I want. If the ladies has listened instead of being rude and speaking over me they would have known I wasn’t asking for additional sides and that this was my second order aside from the dinner for my husband.i was going to tell a lot of people about this place but since this happened I will tell them do not it’s not friendly nor professional. I’m disappointed I wanted to support a business if color and can’t do that we keep running into the same issue unprofessional environment. we have to do better

OMG!! THE BEST SOUL FOOD I’VE HAD IN A LONG TIME. MOMMA HAD ME WITH HER SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY ON THE PHONE!!! THE FOOD WAS THE ICING ON THE CAKE. Ordered from here tons of times with no complaints. ..until this day and was told this meal was complete and it was a “serving”..I mean I see how this could be possible if I were a child …needless to say that was my last time ordering for me and my family ..my friends won’t even order here anymore ..

Ordered from here today for the first time. Extremely disappointed. I always support my small black businesses, but the service was terrible(girl who answers the phone needs customer service training) and the food was awful. I ordered smothered chicken, greens and Mac and cheese. The “smothered” chicken was simply fried chicken with some sort of very thin gravy lightly poured on top-thus defeating the definition of SMOTHERED chicken, the greens were basic(no smoked turkey/meat) and either canned or just not fresh, and the Mac and cheese was boxed with additional cheese added and reheated. I also ordered fried chicken for my husband and it was fried so hard, we couldn’t even tell what part of the chicken it was. We threw everything out. My husband LOVES chicken, so for him to throw it out says alot. Wasted $32. Additionally, this place does not allow customers in the restaurant, so the same female who answers the phone, comes to the door, takes your card to process and hands you your food. I didn’t get a thank you, have a nice day, etc. I’m also not comfortable not being able to see how my credit card is being handled, so on on top of everything else, that adds to my reasoning for not returning to this place. I will continue to frequent Blended Flavors in Linden when I need my soul food fix. Their food and service are consistently great.
