Since 1933 the Bernardi family has been serving Italian & American cuisine. Famous for Mona’s northern Italian Tortellini and spaghetti people travel from all over the state for great food, and friendly service. Mike Bernardi’s son and daughter have joined the family business, Tony in 1988 and Stephanie in 1996, bringing it to the third generation. After working the family business, they had thought it was time to expand out their great service and quality foods. Bernardi’s opened in Washington, IL in 2001, Bernardi’s II in Pontiac, IL in 2005, and the latest location is Bernardi’s North, opened in 2008 at Lake of the Woods Plaza in Dunlap, IL. Always great food, great service, nice atmosphere. I would recommend the fried chicken, chicken breast supreme sandwich with fries, or the spaghetti covered in a savory red meat sauce. I do appreciate the red sauce at Mona’s is not sweet like nearly every single Italian restaurant. The red meat sauce makes this place stand out among the rest. Fresh baked Italian bread with butter is complimentary for the table and this can be combined with olive oil and grated parmesan cheese for a nice snack while you’re waiting for your meal. A+

Inviting bar for before dinner drink with our short wait for a table. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items and specials. She checked on us often and gave us prompt service. Our meals were spectacular! Their fried chicken didn’t disappoint, crisp, hot, and favorable as always! Pasta dishes were full of delicious flavors! You’ll never go wrong at Mona’s! ❤️

Mona’s is worth the drive. The ambiance, the food, and the service take you back to another time. Italian food at a pice that cannot be beat! Make sure you order family style with non-italian meals to get the full experience. At $3.50 you will not think twice about whether to make your meal family style or not.

My grandmother lived in Rutland so I grew up having dinners for special occasions at Mona’s. I hadn’t been for a few years but was in the area so made a point of going for dinner. It brought back so many great memories. The pasta was as good as I remembered.

We tried earing here to try something different. If you’re not a regular, they don’t care about your business. Our drinks sat empty for 10 minutes while dude washed glasses. Bread was stale and hard as a rock. A guy at the end got served his food before us and we were there a half hour before him. Another lady seemed to be taste testing drinks… Again, ours were empty. It was a bogus experience and we wont be going back. Someone asks us where a good place to eat is, not Monas in Toluca.

Absolutely awesome resturant! If you are ever crusing down I-39. Get off the interstate, take a drive into Toluca and stop at either Mona’s or Capponis. The service and food are top notch! Whether it’s the seafood, the pasta, the chicken, you name it, and you can’t go wrong! Can’t recommend highly enough!
