We have come here so many times and left pretty happy. However, now the place needs an overhaul. The smell when you walk in is not pleasant. We get to our table and realize there is no AC…no air flow what so ever. We are all sunburnt from the lake. They don’t serve alcohol, theres food visible in the cracks of the seats…and I’m pretty sure the queso is Velveeta Blanco. We had to get the check and go elsewhere 🙁

The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. They didn’t have a ton of good vegetarian options that weren’t smothered in cheese, unfortunately. However, they were able to modify a vegetarian dish to substitute corn tortillas for the flour, which was exceptionally helpful. Good cheese dip!

We have ate here many times and loved it. But after me and my grandson got home we both started having stomach pains. We were up by 4am running to bathroom and stomach pains were severe. The server was great. But something made us both sick.

Went there on a Saturday for lunch. I suggest the chorizo cheese dip to start. Lunch fajitas were great and plenty to fill you up. Still reasonably priced given inflation. They may have been down a server though, little confusion on who had our table. But food came out fast after ordering.

I want to start by saying the service here was wonderful. Our host and server was so attentive, friendly, and treated the kids in our party so sweetly. Our server was the only reason I am giving Monte Alban 2 stars. We sat in a large booth. 4 adults. 2 toddlers. The amount of sticky residue on the booth and food stuck between the cushions was wild. If that booth had ever been cleaned my guess was that it was about 6 years ago. I was disappointed there were no margaritas, but that could just be a personal preference. I had a chicken burrito, my husband had the carne asada, our friends had the taco salad and enchiladas. I don’t know what the brown sauce is that they put on my burrito and my buddies enchiladas but it was pretty strange tasting. Not in a good way. My friends taco salad had 1 tomato, hot squash, and unidentified white stuff that, best we could guess, were mashed potatoes in it. The carne asada tasted like cardboard according to my husband (and he usually can put down anything) The chips were cold and saltless. The salsa was bland… The food and cleanliness were just……. Not okay honestly. Hopefully our experience was just a bad night, but I won’t be going back to find out.

Came here with the family when all the other restaurants in downtown Blue Ridge were closed or only taking reservations. Got a table immediately, received our food in 10 minutes or less, very friendly employees, and large portions! We really enjoyed everything about Monte Alban.
