Nasty Not good I’m not coming here again! Not worth the money or time ! Sorry but it’s watery , fearless and spice list, the Arvada people seem you like it but what do they know about Mexican food ? My ladies tamale looked as if they tried to cook it in the microwave on her plate. A bunch of cornmeal squeezed onto a tiny amount of meat then microwaved. When asked how my meal was I said horrible and their only response was sorry.

It has been a Lakewood staple for many years, but now becoming an Arvada staple. Decent food, tamales are fine, green chili w pork my favorite thing. I enjoyed the variety of offerings for their lunch menu. Nice people, efficient and clean. To go, orders are quickly available.

Checked this place out for the first time on a recommendation. The food is good, not spectacular, but really good. What I liked about the place is the service. Pretty sure it is family owned and the whole family works there. We had chips and salsa at our table before we were even settled in. Good homemade salsa too. Wife and I ordered margaritas which were really good. I had the Monterey House plate, which has a bit of everything and a lot of it. This has been one of the few times where I could not finish everything, of course it came out on two plates, so it was a lot of food. Wife had the small combination meal, and it too came out on two plates. Seriously, you get a good amount of food. After we had ordered, we had our first plates within 5 minutes. Service is quick!! Their green chili is a bit too watery for me, but still has good flavor. Maybe ask for it on the side. Overall, I do like this place and would go back. It’s a hole in the wall restaurant that you would miss driving by, but the service is better than some fancy places I’ve been to. All tables were taken by time we left and a couple was waiting to snag our spot. They’ve been around for a while. I know why, good food, lots of it, and great service. I’m gonna go back and try a burrito next time, and another margarita

I have been dining at the Monterrey ever since I was a kid when the original owners had in Edgewater. Truly outstanding food the smothered burritos are out of this world. Every time I go back home it’s is the first place I stop at to eat. Thanks guys for the great food.

My daughter told us about them and they are decent food. I love their refried beans that contain lard. But after my recent visit and being sick for 2 days….never again. They are very popular….one day while there all the police were showing up to eat. But I am very sensitive to many foods and have a lot of food allergies. I think it’s a covenentional lard from animals feed GMO feeds and I personally can’t do GMO’S they make me sick. But go enjoy if you have no allergies and eat gmo foods just not for me

Awful experience from the beginning. The tea tasted of tobacco. Rice tasted rancid and was completely inedible. The “green chili” is laughable, it’s just soup, not to mention there’s no heat at all, giant clunky cuts of bell pepper and onion just make it hard to eat, and anything “smothered” gets totally soggy. Very disappointing.
