These guys know what’s up! Very authentic Italian food, their pizza crust reminds me of Rome and their Cacio e Pepe is spot on. NOT Italian-American food! So don’t go in expecting spaghetti and meatballs. As someone who lived in Italy, they get everything right. Bravo!

What a beautiful place! We had the gnocchi and the calamari and they were incredibly flavourful! We also had wine and it was great! Highly reccomend this place! The ambiance was intimate and the service was incredibly kind!

Pasta was good but pizza is weird, the toppings were not mixed so that was unusual and we didn’t like the bread. It’s pricy for the portions of pasta. But the service was amazing, as the nice interior, felt like I am in Italy again

It was probably the worst pasta I have ever had. We are very familiar with the concept of authentic Al Dente pasta…. But this was actually crunchy…. Aka not cooked. And all of our food was served cold and extremely salty. The focaccia we ordered was actually burnt on the top. Our server was great and was very apologetic and put in a new order right away and brought us some more wine while we waited. The second time around the food was warm (although still not hot) and still very chewy.

Really authentic and delicious Italian (and more specifically Roman) food. Great service and atmosphere too.

Truly outstanding!!! As a WC resident for over a decade, and a regular diner in SF and Oakland, I’ve been waiting for a restaurant that puts as much care into craft, ingredients, experience, and creativity as Montesacro. If the food wasn’t so good I’d have taken more pics.

If I could give it 4.5 stars I would. It was very good. The cauliflower salad and the octopus were particularly good. The pinsa was good, not amazing. The fish of the day was good but a little dry. Impressive wine selection. I want to come to check out the brunch menu.

Food was decent but a notch below the old 54 Mint. We had a very pleasant and attentive server. The thing that really bothered me was there are no reasonable drink options for those not having a cocktail. There are no ice tea or soft drinks available. Besides water the only options are two $15 “mocktails” on the menu that are just a mix of fruit juices and soda water and they aren’t particularly good. Cocktails are pretty good but a little pricey. Our bill was probably 50% more than I expected and it was 100% due to the beverage offerings.

I was really curious about this new restaurant in Walnut Creek, especially since I really liked 54 Mint, but my overall experience was somewhat disappointing. I ordered Pasta Carbonara which was recommended to me by a friend and by our server, but it was too peppery and guanciale was just pure fat, I couldn’t eat it and my friends thought the same. We also ordered two pizzas- the base was great, crunchy and tasty, however tuna in Garbatella seemed to be just canned tuna. Pizza Montesacro on the other hand was very good and full of flavor.
