Thanks to the informal recommendations of many local friends, including one who insisted that his parents have Moondog Pizza as his wedding rehearsal dinner, I eagerly awaited the chance to try it for myself. It was well worth the wait. Theirs is the perfect thin crust and can be topped with their great specialty combinations or your selections. Whether you are team red sauce, team white sauce, or join the more unique team pesto sauce, you will be on a winning team at this pizza-lovers’ haven.

We stopped in Morganton on our way to Asheville. Well worth it! Moondog pizza is awesome! The dough and sauce are made from scratch and you can tell it. They also have gluten free and non-dairy options. We split a house side salad while waiting for our pizza. We had their homemade ranch dressing. Quite tasty on those fresh salad ingredients. We will be stopping here again.

Wonderful place. Great food. Outstanding staff. Welcoming to all. Family friendly. I’ll visit every chance I get. If you’re going to eat it Morganton this is where you go. They deserve 10 stars. I personally want to meet the owner and shake their hand. I grew up in this town and can’t tell you how grateful I am to have such an accepting and open minded business. Never thought it would happen. I hope they thrive and grow for many years to come.

Had some time for lunch while visiting Morganton. So glad I chose Moondog Pizza. Elizabeth was an excellent hostess/server. Lunch specials were kind to the wallet and high in quality. Light crusted pizza with a slightly sweet sauce and a fresh tasty salad. Atmosphere was open and modern. Very clean. Will definitely be back again.

Pizza was soggy and gross. The wait for the food was ridiculous, considering we only got three things. Almost everyone that came in after us got their food way before we did. Some people had already finished their food and we’re leaving before we got our food. This place is way overpriced. You could hear the kitchen staff being very unprofessional. We waited 20-30 min before anyone noticed we were waiting to be seated. Another customer went into the kitchen to let them know we were waiting. On a positive note, we did have a very good waitress. The one star is for the kitchen, but I would definitely give the waitress 5 stars.

Some of the best pizza we’ve had in a long time. Loved the pillowy crust. Our server (whose name I sadly forget) was awesome. Super attentive, friendly, and even took our picture for us. My mom is hard of hearing and loved that the acoustics allowed her to hear the conversation.

Best pizza I’ve ever had because I’m not the biggest fan of NY style but I like crispy/well done and it comes out like that without even requesting it. Get a 14 inch cheese and get a second 14″ with toppings. Praise the staff and praise the crunchy dough! Morganton is the next hidden gem, Moondog is already here.
