Smallest fish portion ever. I got a few baby catfish for $20 and they were all hard around the edge, only the center had any fish that was soft and edible the whole outer of the fish was hard. Very dissatisfied and wouldn’t recommend.

I finally made it to this place after wanting some good fried fish and shrimp. I was excited to see that Red Snapper was on the menu, which is hard to find close to home. I ordered a Red Snapper dinner, a half pound of shrimp, and a side of hush puppies. The hush puppies were pretty good. The fried Shrimp was excellent, and the size of the shrimp was even better. But after spending $25 for a Red Snapper dinner I expected total deliciousness!! WRONG!!!! I couldn’t wait to get home to eat my food only to be disappointed with my $25 fish dinner. The fish had a horrible smell, HORRIBLE!! I picked over the other 2 pieces of fish, which didn’t have the same funky smell as the 1st piece. But it lacked seasoning. So I pretty much wasted $25 on the most expensive item on the menu. If I ever return, it’ll be for the fried Shrimp only!!!!

The place is a nice small place. You can’t dine in here. It’s only carry out and delivery by grub hub. The prices are decent. Not too much and not too little but just right. The food was ok thought. It WAS NOT nasty just didn’t have the flavor I hoped for it to have. However in this case I would say to judge for yourselves, do not take my word for this as I do like my stuff more salty than others. They have a very good variety of seafood here and even have a guide to the quality on the wall. You can buy drinks and dessert from the back or you can buy some pop out of the pop machine in the front. They have a TV in the waiting room so you’re not bored while waiting for them to cook your food. It does take a while because they’re cooking the food fresh . I like the place and I will go back.

I was disappointed. The price was too high for what was offered $10+ for a bland whiting sandwich with mushy tomatoes and lettuce on a low vibrational hamburger bun. It was the only place in the area that had whiting. I will order all the way in Detroit before I go here again. If it wasn’t for the hot sauce, the whiting would have been thrown away. Customer service was ok.

I ordered fish and chips with some fried clam strips. The fried fish came with French fries, coleslaw, and some packets of hot sauce, ketchup, one lemon wedge,and tartar sauce. The large order of clam strips came with one packet of cocktail sauce. The fish was alright, the fries were not seasoned, the clam strips were also not seasoned, a little bit of salt goes a long way and brings out the flavor of the product. My pick up time was delayed by almost 30 minutes. I read some good reviews and tried this place as I have been craving some fish and chips. One and done for sure for this place.

The lemon pepper is horrible. Most other places have lemon pepper that’s very good. All I can say is you’d do better going to Capt. Jay’s on 9 Mile and Kelly and get better food and prices.They cook in old grease, food taste nasty. They don’t deserve the name “MOTOWN”; as with any place in Detroit they have great food even the hole in the wall places food be good. I’ve eaten a lot of places throughout Detroit, yes even gas stations that cook food and it is way better than Motown Fish and Shrimp located on Gratiot just south of Metropolitan Parkway in Clinton Township. Most people in this community don’t know what good food taste like as the culture is different out here so they except what they think is good when in actuality it’s not up to pare. So do yourselves a favor and travel a little further outside your comfort zone to any fish and chicken restaurant location in Detroit or it’s branch locations out in the suburbs and treat yourselves to some delicious great food because Motown Fish and Shrimp is not a place in my opinion to waste your money or taste buds on. Being a foody I know good food and customer service.

Update: I tried DoorDash from here and it was hot and good. Even after my first person canceled and DoorDash had to get me a replacement dasher. I got the Catfish, Okra and fries.

Boyfriend and I both got the walleye dinners. The filets were huge. They subbed our coleslaw for a couple hush puppies so we were happy about that. The fried mushrooms were huge! Everything tasted great and we were super happy .
