Walking by this place, we were pleasantly diverted by the aromas emanating from Mountain Deli. Upon venturing inside, and perusing the rather extensive menu, we noticed an employee hand carving a very nice rare roast beef…. we looked at each other, and that was IT! We got the roast beef, and it’s the best EVER! Tender and rare, exquisite, how it’s supposed to be!

My wife got the chicken soup and I got the Rachel (a Reuben but with Cole slaw instead of sauerkraut) with potato salad. Maybe the best sandwich I’ve ever gotten—both the pastrami and the bread were amazing. Soup was also outstanding.

Love seeing the guys and gals at Mountain Deli. Always fast and friendly service. I usually go for the hot carved roast beef, but today I came in early for a bacon and cream cheese everything bagel (a real NJ staple) and it was spectacular, took me straight back to my favorite bagel shops growing up. Thank you to their spectacular team.

A bit disappointed. Look at the attached picture. We ordered three bowls of all three of their soups to go. Got home and opened the containers and they are less than three quarters full. The corn chowder was the last that they had so I can understand that. Measured out, a bowl of their soup is less than 8 oz. To me, that’s not good value for the price. It’s a shame, the people seemed very friendly and it looked like they had some great sandwiches. (And to top it off, the soups were not that tasty. Frustrating. We wanted so much to like this place) **you do realize, that by definition, 8oz is a cup. So you just proved my point. It’s not a bowl.

The Mountain Deli is a great place for a sandwich. My wife and I used to come to Hendersonville about once a month on a Saturday before the pandemic hit. We would hit the bakery and then visit the deli for lunch. Unfortunately, they are no longer open on the weekends, but the food has stayed the same.

Unbelievably, I made my first visit there just today. I had heard good things about the food. Sorry to say and I know many will disagree…Maybe it was an “off” day but the Ruben I had was tasteless. It wasn’t the “most” expensive lunch but $18 could have gotten a much better meal. I was disappointed.
