15 years ago, the first Mulan Asian Bistro opened up in Tennessee. Now we’re serving East Memphis with our Spottswood avenue location. Just like at our original spot, we only use the freshest natural ingredients to make our flavorful dishes. We specialize in Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine, so we have options for every palate. Our authentic, upscale atmosphere is apparent from the moment you walk through our doors, with a stone wall and fireplace setting the ambiance and traditional decor throughout.

I’m really disappointed… this used to be a go to place for me but something has changed. I told the waitress about my gluten allergy. I ate a piece of the Alaskan Roll I ordered without a second thought. After having a closer look, I realized there was Krab stick in it and obviously had gluten. After telling the waitress, she brought out the owner who treated us with contempt. She didn’t comp the meal, and she wouldn’t allow my friends to finish the contaminated meal and instead chose to take it to the back and most likely throw it away. She came out several times and treated us rudely and when we would ask questions to confirm that there was no gluten this time she would get angrier at us and basically not answer the question. I’m sorry to say this, because I used to be a faithful patron here but I will not be going back. In my opinion, no one with any food allergies should go here. They will disregard the allergy and then treat you poorly for sending it back

We struggle finding good Chinese food since we moved to Memphis. Today we tried Mulan for the first time and it was the best most authentic food we’ve had here so far. The Sichuan chicken has proper numbing peppercorns and we were so delighted to find this restaurant. We will be back!!

I ordered dinner from this place through Uber eats. The menu here looks nice and a bit expensive though. The food came on time, carefully packed, and piping hot. I ordered some spicy chicken and boiled fish fillet in chilli oil. Both of them were huge in portion size. The fish came in two boxes, with a side of rice. It was hot and spicy. The fish was good, the soup is a bit oily from the chilli in oil. They put enough red chillies and Szechuan peppercorns (make some tingling sensation/ numbing effect on tongue). So if you don’t like it, maybe you should ask them not to put it. The chicken was also very spicy and hot. I’m an indian, can eat quite a spicy food. But this food was beyond my limit. They were so hot and spicy, and delicious at the same time. Next time I would make sure to request them to reduce the spice level. The chicken was crunchy from outside, coated with all the spices, however moist and juicy inside. It was perfect as starter. However, it was too hot.
