Built in 1847, when West Virginia was the western part of Virginia, the hotel was known as the Moorefield Hotel Company and the stockholders included Charles Carter Lee, eldest brother of Robert E. Lee. After the Civil War, it was operated by Captain C. B. Mullin, who made it into a renowned hostelry famous for its food. During Captain Mullin’s tenure in the 1860′ and 70’s, known as the Golden Days of Moorefield, old hotel registers indicate that many men of note and distinction were guests.
The building carried the name The Mullin Hotel for over 80 years and is West Virginia’s oldest continuously operated hotel, serving as such for over 110 years

A must visit if you’re in the area; very impressed with their steak sandwiches (on menu Saturday). The crab cake was great too. Lovely ambience and the server Luke was very helpful and courteous.

We really liked our lunch at the this restaurant. My daughter ordered a Crab Cake sandwich. She said it was the best ever. I had a pasta with shrimp and broccoli. It was a little too oily on my taste. The greatest plus was – dogs were allowed on the terrace as we were returning home from our camping trip. Our waitress was extremely accommodating and super friendly.

We were on a scenic drive for the day and we happened on this restaurant. Charming atmosphere in the basement of a historic hotel. We were seated in a quaint room with memorabilia on the walls. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Crab nachos were delicious and I had the New York Strip steak which was so savory. The beef was sourced locally which made it feel small town which added to the charm of the entire experience. We will be going back for certain.

Mullins was recommended by a friend local to the area and we are so glad we went. The building itself has so much history and provided for a great dining atmosphere. Our server was attentive and had a great sense of humor. We both had the special of the evening, prime rib, and according to my date it was outstanding. This coming from a man who only ever rates food as “alright”. We will definitely be stopping in again on our next visit.

Smaller place with great historic atmosphere. Food was good for two visits. Friendly staff. Enter from the parking lot behind the building. It can be quite busy for Sunday lunch.

Mullin’s 1847 recently catered our wedding and we cannot say enough good things about it! The food was absolutely delicious and there was SO MUCH of it! Billy and the staff at Mullin’s were wonderful to work with throughout the entire process from planning, to delivery and set up. We could not have asked for better food or service.

The staff is great. Food was not worth the $$ as the ribeyes are very thin and the meatloaf was very dry. I want to note that they removed my meal from the check and gave me a new steak. Not sure if I will try eating there again but if I do I will stay away from the steaks.
