This place has some of the best pastrami I’ve ever had, it was soft and moist. It’s a heavier smoked taste than you’ll find in NYC, so it’s almost a blend between pastrami and brisket, but I personally love that. Their brisket is super good too. I recommend getting the burnt ends in particular. The parking is good, and despite being in a seemingly dangerous area the lot itself feels safe enough to not worry about because it’s inset a little bit away from the road. The people that run this place are very friendly and definitely know their stuff.

We’ve been to Mum Foods twice now and both times were amazing! Definitely the best bbq I’ve had in the area. The brisket sandwiches are super good and they chop up a slab of beef fresh for the sandwiches. We tried the burnt ends and ribs and both were amazing. We agreed the ribs were some of the best we’ve ever had. Definitely recommend for some great bbq!

I am so glad Mum’s and Talisman Coffee are within walking distance. I could be here every week after my first visit. I got the Rachel plus cole slaw and their pickle plate. Their pastrami hit the spot! I saw diverse group of customers, from young babies to boomers to everyone in between. This restaurant is a welcome addition to this neighborhood. The prices are on par with what I’ve seen in SF and NYC.

Can’t say enough good things about this place! Very friendly staff and bbq that is so tender, well seasoned and falls off the bone! The potato salad and pickled veggie sides were great and the butter/brown sugar pie (can’t remember the name) was delicious! Will be back.

Had tried their brisket at the Mueller market and stopped in for a late breakfast. Pastrami breakfast grilled cheese sandwich was awesome. Service was lightning fast and super friendly. So happy a high quality BBQ spot has opened up on the NE side.

Holy smokes… Six stars. Ten stars. All the stars. I had The Rachel and potato salad and it’s the best thing I’ve eaten in months. The pastrami was perfect, the dressing is great, their bread is amazing. It’s pricy but worth EVERY penny. Seriously, stupifyingly good.

Haven’t been to their brick and mortar store yet but their stand at the Austin Farmers Market is unbelievable. I had the Brisket and the Half Chicken. Both were fantastic the chicken was nice and tender. Nearly fell off the bone literally. The brisket was superb. They gave me a choice between moist or lean cuts and I got the moist which to my knowledge is more fatty. It was so flavorful and tender. I didn’t even think about barbecue sauce. It was so good I stood back in line for seconds. This place was way better than Terry Blacks. You should most certainly try it
