August 1st around 12 pm- I was about to order when a white young woman behind the counter called to a person leaving, saying “are you going to pay for that” essentially accusing the person of stealing. The person did not have any items saying the woman saw her put the food item back and that she only had $4. The patron even offered to let the woman search her bag. The white woman sarcastically said ok and proceeded to whisper about the incident and giggle with her coworker.

Food was great and the service was great. It was a little pricey as it cost four adults and a kid just over $100 to eat lunch while touring the Anchorage Museum. They need a kids menu.

New chef and boy did it show! My family and I used to love to eat here but never again! My mom ordered a breakfast item but wanted scrambled eggs rather than a poached egg (people are funny about how their eggs are prepared) we were told sternly that the chef would not ever change an item and that we were to order it as it was on the menu. The waitress said that the chef had given her strict orders and she told us throughout ordering, after we ordered and as we were leaving. We got it! We will not change the menu! (Even though the menu said “roached egg” not poached egg. But ok. We have a Seinfeld episode here, this reminded me of “no soup for you!”

I’ve been here before with relatively good service and food. But last night was terrible. We waited over an hour for food. My steak came out lukewarm and my fries were cold and hard. Thankfully the waitress brought me new fries, but nothing could be done about the steak (and at this point I was too hungry to care. On top of that, steak was tiny and we left hungry.

Muse’s food, beer and wine selections are decently priced and are good; however, does not have a full bar. The atmosphere is nice, but the live music can be loud. The menu changes every month. Enjoy.

I typically do not write reviews unless a place is exceptional or a place is unexceptional, Muse is exceptional. My kids and I stopped by after visiting the Anchorage Museum and we were all glad we did. First, the service. Our waitress Melissa (or Michelle) was great and very attentive to my kids’ needs. Everything (being seated, ordering drinks, getting food, etc.) was very prompt, which I appreciate with impatient kids. Second, the food. One of my kids had a pizza and the other had chicken fingers and not only did they not complain (my kids are complainers!), they told me they wish there was a Muse where we lived so they could eat there all of the time. I ordered the crab roll, not knowing what to expect (I have only had east coast crab rolls), and it was one of the best crab rolls I have ever had. Everything was perfect. I should have taken a picture because it looked like the food a place would take pictures of to put on their website.

Different and delicious! I’d probably only go here occasionally as it is a bit pricier than other places I have lunch at, but it is very tasty. I had a spicy masa stew (vegetables and spices that gives a savory balance with the sweet squash) which was reasonably priced, a spotted shrimp pasta with vodka sauce (shrimp was sweet, pasta was fresh) and my husband had NY strip steak. The portions are “just right”, I’m a big eater so I was glad I also got a soup along with my main dish. Most main dishes range $18-22, but soup was $8.

It was first friday so busy, but we waited 45 minutes for our food – the cesar with chicken – pretty awful with extremely dry chicken. The scallops were delicious but the rest of the dish was awful – 6 small green beans and a pile of flavorless red potatoes, very disappointing, one of the the best parts of the meal was the lemon butter on the dry rolls – will not return.
