Here’s a fun fact for my non-Cantonese speakers: the name Needle sounds similar to how “here” (ni1 dou6) is pronounced in Cantonese.

One of my favourite spots in LA. The fried chicken with a side of pickles and salted egg yolk french toast are so delicious. The french toast is absolutely amazing – crispy, fresh and luscious! One issue is that the cheun fun isn’t great – they were a little stodgy and paled in comparison to the other items.

All the entrees were great except the popcorn chicken which wasn’t flavorful and very salty. You order up front and then find seating. The utensils and everything else is self serve.

Absolutely delicious. When I’m craving Canto food, this hits the spot! From their char siu to congee. Everything is delicious. The salted egg french toast was fantastic. Love this local spot.

Not sure I understand why this place is so highly rated. You have to put in your order yourself, get your own cutlery, and the vibe was a bit like a cafeteria. The DIY ordering system could have been cool but it wasn’t super intuitive and pretty buggy. As for the food, the French fries were amazing but everything else was pretty bland. I don’t eat meat so maybe I missed out on the most popular things to order… but I do believe everything on a menu should represent the quality of a restaurant.

The very best in my book. I can’t wait to see more of chef Ryan’s work. Everything at Needle drives so close to home and my heart. Pristine ingredients like no other restaurants at this level, wonderful cooking skills with the utmost care and love going into every single smallest dish. Don’t miss out on Needle if you’re visiting LA.

Loved the lunch menu here, popcorn chicken is delicious and has a really unique & crunchy puffed rice texture. The fried rice was super good too. Can’t wait to try the rest of the new menu!

The char siu here is out of this world, such juicy high quality meat! We came for the pork chop bun but they told us they haven’t had this on the menu for over a year now 🙁
