I’m at work and I’m hangry at 10am. I don’t need, nor want to pay for fancy food. This place is PERFECT. I use a delivery service, and have never been there in person but I imagine somebody’s grandmother or aunt in the kitchen making my food.

So I used to frequent this restaurant while Mr. Nelson was alive. The place was always packed and lively. It was a spot where people would come to socialize as they listened to the jukebox. Well the menu has less items now and the atmosphere is not quite the same but the family is still there and there is a new fancy jukebox. I will always support when I am Downtown. Now to the nitty gritty you can get breakfast sandwiches, pork chops and rice and other familiar foods. Now, I go for pig ear sandwiches this is the only place that I can still get one if I have the craving.

Excellent food and quick service. This restaurant has better food for half the cost compared to most breakfast restaurants around Birmingham, Homewood, and Mountain Brook. Dude at the front was cool and the lady cooking in the back is amazing. I don’t review places often and Nelson Brother’s Cafe deserves this review and your business.

Pancakes, pan sausage, grits with eggs, and a BLT with fresh L&T so crisp and sweet… breakfast was delicious! Oh, and the sweet little angels that kept us company while we waited were perfect for me and my husband!

Salmon was aweful. The rice was hard and cold. I ordered chicken and gravy expecting to see chicken smothered in gravy. I got 3 half done oversized wings with gravy poured on top .
