Everything she makes is seasoned or cooked in a way that is *better* than you have ever had it before. I can tell you that. No matter what it is, or how simple of a thing it is, you will be in disbelief that it tastes so much better than you expect it to. Even simple sides such as green beans. You think you’ve had green beans before. You think you know how they taste. You are wrong. Out of any travel experience I have had, this place is the one that just blows my mind every time I eat the food. It really is astounding. I find it difficult to put into words just how impressive her food is. I am always shaking my head in disbelief when I try a new dish. “WHY?? HOW can this (insert dish here) taste so good, and be so much better than I’ve ever had it before??”. This review is not hyperbole. You will see.

Nettie Bell doesn’t disappoint. Her steak and gravy on creamed potatoes are amazing! I have never tasted anything like them. And now we are eating Sunday lunch with Nettie Bell from now on. The food here is delicious, and Miss Nettie Bell is as wonderful a host as she is a cook. I had a plate with pintos, green beans and mashed potatoes with cornbread, my friend had a plate with pulled pork, etc. and we each took a plate home for a family member. The chocolate pound cake is scrumptious, as well. This is a definite must visit!

Nettie Bells is what real soul food is all about. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and made with love and pride. Great conversation, generous portions, and very reasonable pricing. It was a joy to eat family recipes that you know have been passed down for many generations. Places like this are few and far between these days.
