The restaurant has changed from buffet to weighing your food by the pound and charging you. I am perfectly fine with the process. There aren’t many restaurants or selections in the city of Thomasville, Alabama. So a Chinese restaurant in that city is a good thing. Let’s be honest, African Americans keep this restaurant going. I went in expecting to eat and I decided that customer service is more important than the food. I’ve read all the signs there that clearly states that no buffet. You get what you want and you pay by the weight. I was in such a good mood to get my little cousin out the house and have a little dining experience with him. I asked one question. What happened that you guys don’t serve buffet any longer? And this young lady, Chinese descent, starts a rant about me not asking Walmart about their prices. It infuriated me, I never asked her to change price, I would say I was almost jokingly asking her about the buffet. I paused and said hold that thought. And I told my cousin I personally would never eat here. And I forgot to say, this was my first time at this restaurant. I don’t live in the city. So we decided to leave and I may have said something going out the door, but I’m sure it wasn’t disrespectful. So my message to anyone, no matter your race. If you stand for nothing, then your part of the problem. I would never visit this restaurant again.

It’s currently the best spot in the area….their eggrolls are good…I do carryout…..their policy sucks about the buffet….it’s “not” all you can eat…and everything is weighed….besides that….their food is good….yesterday I noticed that they charge you a fee for using your debit or credit card….it’s getting ridiculous.

They no longer have all you can eat and they charge by the pound. And they charge A LOT!!!! I might have had 1 lb and my son 2 lbs and 2 drinks. It was over $30. I will NOT return.

If you haven’t already received the first disappointing experience of the day please stop at New China Buffet in Thomasville, Alabama. The first surprise is that this is not a buffet. I understand that with the Covid situation that restaurants went through a period of being closed for inside dining but that is not the case here. You go inside and place your order from a selection of foods that are tacked on the wall. After you place your order you are instructed to be seated at a table. You are charged according to the number of items you select except for shrimp which is charged according to the half pound and pound which greatly affects the cost. The food seems to have been left under a heat lamp too long, it was very chewy and soggy. The egg drop soup was good and the chicken and broccoli was okay but the rest of the food left something to be desired. There was 5 people in our party and nobody finished the meal. Each of us were disappointed in our food and will NOT be dining there again.

Run! Far Far away from this nasty restaurant. Against my own better judgement, I decided to give it a try, even after walking past an open cage full of stinky, live turtles on the floor. The food was truly horrid, we ate 3 bites and decided to leave. The staff was rude and unapologetic that their food was cold and rubbery, not to mention.. isn’t a tub full of live turtles against health code???

The service was terrible. The table was nasty. When I asked for a rag to clean it with, the lady refused me a cloth to wipe with. Then she told me to put a menu over the nasty table. The food was dried out as if it had been cooked all day. Spent $33.00 on food I had to throw away.

The food was good and flavorful. There were several unique items that blew my socks off, and lots of old favorites that are common to Chinese buffets. The waitress was attentive and kept our glasses full and was even patient when my 4 year old spilled her sprite.
