Newman’s Grotto is one of two locations they have in Eugene. This location just serves food, while the other sells fresh fish. Food is overall pretty good. Service is always fast and staff is curious. The Coconut Shrimp is my favorite. They have grilled and fried fish options, French fries and Clam Chowder. They have soda and beer options as well. No vegetarian options.

Upscale fish n chips. Fast, clean, friendly. The prawn roll (grilled prawns, coleslaw) knows my name! A rare but delish special is smoked salmon and chips. I’ll detour 50 miles for Newman’s!

Ate there yesterday. We had the fried Cajun oysters and the Rockfish and chips. The oysters and the fish were completely over cooked and crunchy. Teeny portions. Outside tables has not been cleaned and were gross. I’d think twice before I ever go back. Disappointed because they used to have fabulous food.

Had very good food, I’m from coast of Oregon my sister was looking for seafood after a hospital visit. She lives in Florence were use to getting really good sea food this place is good especially for being in Eugene not on the coast. Had one everything on the side dish she liked it. I like my clam chowder and salmon. No place to set but out doors good thing it was nice day.

Fresh fresh fresh. My Rockfish & chips was perfect. We ordered cod and halibut and a shrimp salad. This could have been a 5 Star rating but there was no shrimp in the shrimp salad. We took our food home so we could not ask for a credit. And our local family said this has happened to them before. Yes, we should of checked before we left BUT shouldn’t have to. However, be warned check your orders. Just saying.

Fish and chips are great. Don’t bother with clam chowder. It’s often luke warm (not safe for a creamy soup) and most of the time there are no potatoes or clams. I’d be ashamed to charge $5 for a bowl of clam chowder with no clams.
