We enjoyed dinner here after a full day at Legoland. Drinks and food were really great. From the drink menu I tried the pear Martini it was delicious however on the sweeter side, they will adjust the sugar if you request it. From the dinner menu I had the Cioppino with a warm mini bread bowl bread. We also had buttermilk breaded chicken with mashed potatoes and corn. We finished our meal with butter cake with a scoop of ice cream. There was also a selection of kids meals. Service was really great and food was excellent. We will come back on our next visit.

We are never disappointed when we come to Nick’s on State! I ordered my usual cioppino, just slightly under presented, it is usually a bit more aesthetically pleasing and decorated but the taste was all there! We also ordered the fish sandwich and bbq ribs and asparagus fries. All of it highly recommend, super delicious and fresh!

What a great place! Visiting Carlsbad for the month of July and came across this restaurant for dinner. Truly, the best place we’ve been to since we arrived 3 weeks ago. Food and drinks were amazing and our server, Ryan, was top notch. Nice to have team members actually enjoy their place of employment and it shows. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by a welcoming hostess and seated without a reservation. The place was full. The asparagus “fries” were a yummy starter and both of our dinners were delicious. Nice to go out and get what you pay for. Seems these days that is a rare commodity!

Great food-friendly staff. The Halibut was a special-and truly amazing! If you like meatloaf-there’s no better place to have it. We usually split a dish but these both were our favorites, so we experienced both! We walked in on a busy afternoon and were seated in 5 minutes!

Nick’s is always an ultimate favorite to me. I tend to eat the dessert before the main dish (and you mastro fanatics will hate me for saying this) bc their warm butter cake is made bestest here; IMHO!

Had a very solid dining experience at Nick’s. The food was excellent and the prices were pretty reasonable. Nick did an excellent job making our group feel welcome giving great recommendations for the food. While the food was great the mixed drinks really stole the show I would highly recommend any of them. Super happy Carlsbad is finally getting some great places to eat out.
