The steamed sandwich heating method is a great way to finish a sub, this used to be a common thing around this area. The problem that I had today is that the quality of the meat was poor, gristly and chewy.

Visiting the area and wanted something fast and local.. this was perfect! A tiny little deli with fast service and amazing subs.. my wife and i each got a 12 inch to go – a meatball and a steak and shared them. Driving back to the hotel we read that all subs are steamed.. having no idea what that meant we were curious… and now we want all of our subs steamed!

Nixon’s is unique to Knoxville, so if you’re passing through, stop and have a fantastic sandwich. My favorites are the Reuben on pumpernickel, and smoked turkey with smoked cheddar on white. Make sure to get your pickle and pepper with your order.

Saw this place a few times and decided to stop in for lunch. I did a club sandwich. Be mindful that they steam all of their sandwiches. This for me was a great addition. It did make it a mess but well worth it. My wife did not hers steamed. It was good also because they get good bread. Prices were reasonable. The sides were ok but they do have bags of chips. They have platters for catering. I will be using them for my business meetings.
