This is a festive Mexican restaurant. It’s counter service here, but the food quality is just like a full service restaurant. It actually seems to be faster. The staff was friendly and helpful. It’s fairly new; fresh and clean with vibrant colors all around. There’s Mexican music playing in the background. Prices are reasonable. Do not expect the usual complimentary nachos and salsa. The food was tasty and fresh. The Birria tacos were excellent. The burrito was a delicious sloppy mess. They lightly fry the outside of the burrito shell, giving it just enough crispness. I will be back.

Best California style Mexican food in the area without question. All the protein choices are amazing. The staff is amazing and very friendly. Try the Tres leches cakes is they have them you won’t be disappointed

Great work lunch at number No. 1 Taco. We dined in and the place was bright and welcoming. They were super friendly with great customer service. We tried the biria pork tacos and quesadilla, and the chicken quesadilla. Excellent flavor with large servings! They also have a sauce/salsa bar area. We will definitely return.

I have seen several people talking about No. 1 Taco on social media, so my spouse and I decided to stop through for lunch on one of our rare days in Virginia Beach. I’m so glad we did. We ordered al pastor and pollo azado tacos, though there were several different things I wanted to try. The pollo azado was good, but we both really loved the al pastor since it was so flavorful. I wish we lived closer so I could try more things – the birria quesadilla sounds so good – but the three tacos on their own were a perfect sized lunch for me, and I definitely recommend them.

Absolutely delicious tacos and easily some of the best I’ve had! Staff was super friendly and great about explaining what the different proteins were. I got the carne azada, al pastor, and birria and they were all super fresh and delicious.

My thought was that it was a restaurant with booths and other seating. The place feels authentic when you walk in. From the decorations on the wall, the menu and seating. The service was welcoming and warm. I got take out. Ordered was the Birria Ramen and tacos. Everything was nicely packed for it to be a to go order. The Strawberry Kiwi and Mango drinks was fruity and not too sweet. The selection of sauces from mild to hot went well with my meal. I highly recommend.

My review is based on just 1 visit because, unfortunately, I’ll live too far away as of tomorrow, but if you’re reading this, you should try this place. My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised. I’m in my second trimester and I couldn’t finish all of my food – burrito and chips and queso. The burritos are huge – as they should be – and the food is great. The staff is also super friendly. I have no complaints. If it wasn’t for moving tomorrow to NC, I would keep this one on my list of places to visit frequently.

Walking in you can smell the food, hear the music and see a clean dining area and condiment line. Customer service was A+. The food was fresh we may have waited 15 min. But boy was it worth the wait. Definitely recommend for lunch date or family dining.

The Champ is here. Hands down the best mexican spot in VB. I am originally from San Diego about 10-15 minutes from TJ, MX. So there is a huge difference in West Coast vs. East Coast MX. VB has brought that beautiful white sauce, but when it comes down to it, I don’t need that when the food is so flavorful.
