WOW! This is definitely my new favorite restaurant in KC. We came here for late night discounted dining and were blown away by the flavors of the dishes, extremely friendly staff, and beautiful atmosphere.

Got the chance to have dinner here with my wife a few weeks ago! We live in the area and were so excited to finally be able to try their food after watching the restaurant get ready for a while.

As a native of Kansas City for 26 years, this is the best meal I’ve ever had.

Made for Instagram, this restaurant has a distinct aesthetic. Every detail has been considered, the chairs are unique, the baskets down the centers of the communal tables, the embossed coasters.

Last night, my friend and I visited Noka, a new Japanese farmhouse-inspired restaurant in Martini Corner, located in midtown Kansas City. The establishment takes pride in offering small plates with an Asian flair.

The sign at Noka caught my eye last weekend and so booked a table at the Chef’s counter for Wednesday night! You get to see everything going on in the kitchen and the space an ambiance is well done. Sound does carry a bit from the main dining area and some sound deadening elements/decor could be added.

The food isn’t good at all. But the restaurant is beautifully designed. The price for the food is expensive and to be honest you could get a better cuisine from Trader Joe’s and warm it up in the microwave. I will be surprised if this restaurant makes it; I would not recommend it to anyone. I also had a couple chats about the food quality with others whom also ate at the restaurant and they felt the same way. I wish they would have warned me I would have saved a couple hundred dollars. The drinks were bad the food was terrible and the price for the food and the location isn’t up to the hype. I felt like the restaurant was playing a trick on me. I loved how the restrooms had the Cooper sink faucet and the huge doors and the wood barn ambience. The only food item that I really enjoyed was the 10 dollar rice pudding. I wish this place would have worked out; for the City needs restaurants but this was a major disappointment. I have been to restaurants that have beautiful interior with amazing food. The food portions are very small but it’s not just about it being small; it’s just the taste isn’t there and it tastes like something you warm up that is prepackaged its terrible so I need to give a honest review about this. Also you’re so close to other people you have no privacy I don’t like the communion seating arrangement it’s like you don’t know the people next to you and there’s so neck and neck close to you while they are eating their food. It’s very bizarre. I left feeling like I went to a wedding with bad food and need to go to McDonald to grab a bite to eat. I was hungry when I left after spending over 200 dollars. Plates are small and not for sharing. Major false advertising.

Love… love…. Love the concept of the table seating. I had the chefs table reservations and let’s just say, amazing does not do it justice. From the service to the food to the decor… Noka should be on your list to try.

We had a great dining experience at Noka. One thing we were impressed with was the creative use of organ meats in many dishes and a nice array of sans alcohol cocktails. We ordered the shishito peppers with shaved beef heart, bone marrow pate, beggar’s duck (fun presentation under baked clay), short ribs, asparagus and creme brûlée (we loved the orange zest and spun sugar that gets reduced by the flame for the crunchy top). Also, go to the bathroom! The sink is incredible. I am concerned about water damage (read mold/mycotoxins) developing on the wood below from the drippy hands at the neat control lever. We sat at the chef’s counter and will do that again next time–it was fun to see all the dishes about to be served!
