Waitress was very friendly and personable. The food was delicious. Only issue I had was the walleye I ordered had not been deboned. I know it’s walleye, but when the majority of the customers are older they may end up lodging one in their throat. That’s the only concern I have.

Merrill, Wisconsin’s brand new VFW Post has been a long time coming, almost too long, but it has been worth the wait. The building is beyond beautiful. It has a large hall. The bar is a very generous size. Parking is ample. And now they are able to offer food! Come here for your next Friday Night Fish Fry or any other day of the week for some tasty vittles. Disappointing, even with a reservation service was nearly non-existent. People in the group had to ask multiple times before sodas were refilled. A party of 15 people, well over an hour from time orders were taken to the time food was delivered to the table. Many people in the group had cold food on their plate the only reason they kept it was because they were starving by the time food arrived and just wanted to finish the meal and leave. This experience really killed what should have been a jolly time. I highly doubt we will return.

If I were simply rating the fish fry, I’d definitely give 5 stars. However, our service was a borderline 3 stars. We had a young girl though, probably not familiar with waitressing standards yet. Our meals went to the table behind us, so we had to wait a little longer for our meal to be cooked. The waitress never came back to the table after taking our order. Someone else brought our meal out to us. She didn’t come to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything. I really could’ve used some ranch and more sauce. Flagged her down to get our bill. Then the credit card machine wouldn’t accept payment… Thankfully there is an ATM on the premises, so got cash, paid and left.

Wonderful people there. Showed me around, lots of pictures on the walls, some that were taken for the Honor Flights and others that were drawn. Great food and service, it was a great musician that played last night, awesome new building with a good amount of acreage as well. Our Veterans definitely deserve this place!!!!
