I love pulled pork and make it myself even at times……but usually I save it for masters like Frank. His is the most excellent I have tasted and enjoyed a sandwich there today…..I also picked up some more of his smoked salmon ,which is also the best! I have brought it to a couple parties and disappeared the very first thing! All saying how good it was! The organic rosemary(that he and his wife grow) is my favorite for now, but he has other choices as well that are good too. Can’t wait to try something else on his menu when I get a chance.

The food here is SO good, Frank knows what he’s doing, and makes mouth watering goodness. His sausage and ribs are my personal favorite, with his pulled pork and brisket being my Dad’s. My son, boyfriend and I fight over the ribs, and no matter how much I buy, it’s never enough. His bbq sauce? Delicious. I’ve loved his food for years, and am super excited he’s right by the mini golf course now, incredibly convenient:) I highly recommend stopping by and filling your bellies!

On Friday, August 25, 2023, my husband and I stopped for lunch at Frankie’s Barbecue in Southwest Harbor, ME. We ordered and enjoyed the BBQ sampler with multiple meats, cornbread and home cooked beans. Everything was served hot and was delicious. Over a period of several years, we have enjoyed Frankie’s BBQ and the food has been consistently high quality. Frankie’s BBQ has always been neat, clean and an attractive place to stop for lunch with friendly speedy service. We have and continue to recommend Frankie’s to family and friends without hesitation.

Best BBQ ever! This is our second summer of regularly eating at Frankie’s. Everything we’ve had is delicious. The ribs are out of this world good. A true artist who loves to share his craft.

Had the Cubano. Everything was perfect. Mouth watering pork, homade sauce and crispy roll. Frank was a molecular biologist now doing what he loves and it shows. Great job Frank!

Happy to see Frank in his new location, we’ve enjoyed his bbq for years. He’s a hoot to interact with and proud of his food. The pastrami is probably my favorite, but I wouldn’t turn any of it down.

Ok, so I wasn’t going to say anything at first, but after reading another review on here and some other info I came across, I feel people need to be warned. My wife, 2 kids and I visited last month. We decided to stop and get lunch. My wife and daughter ordered from Rodick’s (very good, btw) and my son and I ordered pulled pork (Cuban and pork sandwich) from Frankie’s. At the time, I thought it was decent (I make better pulled pork at home), but later that night, both my son and I and my wife (she tried a few bites of the pork) all got sick with stomach issues and were sick for 2 to 3 days after (my daughter was fine and she didn’t eat any of it). Having 20 plus years of restaurant experience (mostly in barbecue restaurants, at that) and having been ServSafe and food safety certified many times, I know this was a classic case of a food borne illness coming from improper following of time and temperature policies. He absolutely should be reported to the health department, but I’m sure, just like my family no one has wanted to take the time out of their vacation to visit a doctor and file an official complaint of food poisoning. So, if you want to try his food, proceed with caution and make him temp his food first (if it’s between 40° and 140°, don’t eat it! But honestly, if you want BBQ, just go to Mainely Meats.. they really are the best on the island and you won’t get sick.

Firstly half the menu wasn’t available when we came. what was available was over priced for the portions and quality. The total was $70 for two meals, while paying he gave himself a tip without asking. He wasn’t the friendliest person and he bragged a lot about his food! He was serving the cornbread with his bare hands that were covered in black soot. We tried overlooking this because we thought it must be good because he said he sells out fast. Here’s the worse part…me and my whole family got sick of diarrhea and throwing up for two days straight. Two of us had to call out of work because we couldn’t be away from the bathroom that long.I would honestly give this place zero stars if possible. I feel bad for this because we always try supporting local vendors but this is not a place we’d go back to.

We regularly get ribs and other meals from Frankie. He’s friendly and outgoing and plays awesome blues music at his kiosk. We love the food and will keep going back.
