Other reviews do a good job describing this place. A lot of Japanese patrons and, as far as I could tell, all Japanese staff. Maybe to reinforce that element, the menu is poorly translated into English, littered with errors.

Such a cozy, amazing restaurant serving traditional, authentic and delicious Japanese food! Possibly one of the best places in Manhattan to eat! Staff is super kind as well, a true gem!

Easily the best culinary experience I’ve had in a long, long time. If you love Japan, and want to escape the grind of New York – go here and you are immediately transported to a tranquil, yet vibrant… yet elegant Izakaya in the side streets of Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto. The food was incredible, service was world class and it has inspired us to book a trip to Japan. This felt like a secret gem and I will come back every time I’m in New York. Wow.

This is one of my favorite new york izakaya spot that I would visit often for casual drink and dinner or formal.

The restaurant is managed by Japanese, all the waitress, chef etc are Japanese. The place is clean and the restroom is clean. The udon is very delicious, the hotpot is nice, despite the meat is hard to chew. The soup is tasty and I cannot stop myself from keep drinking it. The sashimi is quite pricey though, Other than that, I am quite satisfied with the dinner. If you want to have a real Japanese restaurant, this is one of the choices.

Felt like we were in Japan from both the perspective of the customers around us to the staff (very nice and helpful both explaining some menu items and also making suggestions). They also prepared dishes for 4 people sharing as we tried quite a number of dishes on the menu which were small plates. Very high quality fish but on the pricey side. Some things we did not try but would go back for would be the bluefin tuna on the bone. Good vibe sitting at the bar.

Okatte is an upscale Izakaya bar that perfect for chill out after work, informal business talk and of course Date night. The music set on the right volume, instrumental just like in some nice hotel lounge. The decoration is nice simple and dramatic.

Authentic izakaya! Very tasty food, but portion size is a bit small for the price.
