This wasn’t our first choice. We started at the restaurant next door to this one. However, we were so glad for how things turned out. We ordered shrimp dumplings and a seafood appetizer that would delight all ceviche lovers out there. It’s called Fuji Mountain. Oh my! I will remember it as Japanese ceviche extraordinaire. Their lunch menu is available until 3:30pm. The portions are generous. The shrimp curry with pineapple and coconut milk had the right balance of sweet and spicy. It comes with miso soup and costs $8.75. The chicken with Thai basil and chili peppers was not as spicy was we thought it would be. Their service? Was on point! If you are in Vernon, CT you must check this restaurant out.

I’ve been to Oki a few times, and every time has been great! I can’t say anything about dine-in since I never have, but I pick up myself and the staff is lovely every time. My boyfriend and I even showed up a little while before close one time, and despite going at an inconvenient time, we were still treated with respect and received the food piping hot.

The food was good but the service was very slow, it was not busy when we arrived and it took a good 10-15 minutes before we were even asked what we wanted to drink. One of the specialty rolls ordered was also never brought out but they did remove it from our bill. I will likely give them another chance in the future as the food was good and I’m hoping the server was just having an off night.

Coworkers and I ordered delivery food. My order was steak and chicken hibachi. I’ve NEVER been so dissatisfied with a meal. First off, I didn’t order shrimp or scallops but both showed up in my meal. The plastic container was overflowing with brown, oily, fish flavored liquid. Even though I ordered rare steak, it was well done and tough like shoe leather. The rubber-like chicken was cooked more than the overdone steak. It all tasted like the seafood that wasn’t supposed to be in my meal. Even the vegetables were overcooked. The squash had the texture of soggy pickles rather than hibachi squash. Even the noodles were overcooked, leaving an oily flour paste on my fork.

I ordered takeout from here after passing by it so many times, and I’m so glad I did! We ordered sushi, shumai and the hibachi dinner and it was all good quality and well made. The sushi seemed fresh and the vegetables used in the hibachi still nice and crunchy. The pricing was quite reasonable and you get a decent amount of food for your money. I’ll definitely be back to order more takeout and also do some dining in!

The waitress wasn’t very attentive to our requests (didn’t bring us water after numerous requests, told my husband “no” and walked away when he asked for beer options, I had to walk out front to put in our sushi request…) Overall, the food was great and the chef was very entertaining.

This is THE BEST place to get sushi. They have an excellent variety with the raw kind clearly indicated on the menu. We love to start with their green tea. Five rolls is enough for two people. It has a very homey atmosphere and the people are very nice and warm. They have an excellent drink menu with reasonable prices. 10/10
