Quality of food and ambiance are what makes a restaurant. This has both in spades, plus a great view of Lake Tahoe. We live in Sacramento and come here once or twice a year for Valentines or birthdays. Every year it’s my favorite restaurant and no other steakhouse comes close. The lights are way dim at night, it’s so cool. You look at a wall of wines when you enter, all great with prices right there, pick one and take it to your table. The free bread is delicious and everything on the menu I’ve ever had was amazingly incredible.

Dark dim steakhouse in North Tahoe. Coming from Texas I’m pretty picky about my steaks. Old Range had a ribeye that was so tender and enormous that I could have eaten for three days. Downside, it had no flavor. I never salt my food, never. Even with the salt, I couldn’t justify the $70 price tag. Sides are served family style. There’s a wine wall where you pick your bottle and bring it to your table. I will try this place again..

Fantastic steak. No frills about it with marinade and rubs. Just high quality steak cooked right. A pinch of salt to taste. Portions are enormous and service was excellent.

I’ve been to all of the North Lake dining options and this one is by far the best value paired with best service. Though their large group reservation fee is kind of an inconvenience, they really make sure you have a great experience. There wasn’t an overdone steak on the table and it’s fun to pick out your wine from the wall. Also tableside service on the cocktails, I’m sold.

The service was phenomenal. So fast and attentive. I got the prime rib and it was delicious, served with au jus and horseradish. The lake views are beautiful. My only minor complaint was that the dining room was a bit dark, even though we were there in daylight hours.

Pleasant ambiance. Came with wife and kids and ordered steak and wine. Requested one wine pre main course and one for the main course. Waitress forgot about the wine order entirely. Place was not busy and there were other waiters on the floor. This is not a discounted dinner establishment and this kind of service failure is simply unacceptable. When I politely pointed this out, the waitress snapped and rudely pointed out that I should not tip then. We came in looking for a pleasant evening and it was ruined. My advice for consumers: go elsewhere.

Great steaks with a great view! A little bit pricey, but it is worth the money. This is the 2nd time that I have been here for dinner, and the meals are very good. My friends and I will certainly be coming back. All of us had steaks but me, I had the lamb shank. The appetizers were executed perfectly, and we had a Cesar’s salad and shrimp cocktail to start.
