Barbecue was decent. Service was friendly and fast. I thought the brisket was good and fairly tasty. However, it was also a small portion for the price. The ribs were good but just a bit dry. The mac & cheese was very tasty.

Great service here but not the most amazing food. The lady taking orders was really good and helpful and we got our food in less than five minutes! Unfortunately the chicken was pretty dry and the side salad seemed very small to me. The memphis sandwich my husband got tasted good, but we always leave here feeling like we didn’t get enough to eat. And it’s definitely not a lot for what you pay. But the service is great and the place is decorated tastefully and it’s clean.

Old Southern Barbecue in Rice lake. Pulled pork plater, with baked beans, macaroni cheesy,and sweet potato mash. Pork was actually tender and juicy the hot links are great. It’s pretty rare to find a place that handles their meat with care. That’s what she said lol ! One of the better barbecue places in Wisconsin. Generous servings, and Michelle was really nice. What a great way to end the night. Recommend anyone who’s in the area to try this place.

Really good BBQ! I had a chicken bowl with sweet potatoes and beans, tangy coleslaw and lots of toppers. My hubby had Mac and cheese, beans, chicken and creamy coleslaw as a bowl.

Hey you, yes the one reading this review. Do yourself a favor and get in a vehicle, bicycle, run, walk..I don’t care if you have to take a pogo stick to get to Old Southern Smokehouse. Get there and eat. You deserve it. The Brisket Sandwich changed my life it’s that good.

I was a once a week regular customer at the Rice Lake location. Always ordered the same thing. Just added another meat but paid extra. Which wasn’t cheap. My last visit the lady at the counter was confused and asked the “GM” for help. He refused my request even after explaining that I pay extra. I don’t care what his title is I am the customer! Charge me the usual $8 or whatever extra ( pay by the pound for pork) price and appreciate the business. It’s not like it’s a thriving restaurant. Be happy that I the only customer at 5:00 PM frequents your business. Famous Dave’s is only 15 minutes farther for me. That’s where my business is going.

Went here over the weekend when in the area and tried the Southern Sampler. The sausage was excellent, great flavor and the crispy skin gave some texture. The chicken was ok, needed to pull the skin off as it was rubbery but that’s too be expected with smoked chicken. The brisket was also fine, wasn’t impressed with the very thick cuts at the bottom of the pile but the flavor was fine, needed to sauce it though. Pulled pork was nothing special, needed sauce. The rib on the other hand…no flavor at all. Definitely needed to add sauce and even then. The texture was great but flavor was not. All the sauces were pretty good.

We come to Chetek/Rice Lake every year, we’re from IN. We always try new places. This has been one of the best experiences in the past few years. The food was amazing. The build your own bowls were a hit with the kids, my wife enjoyed her sandwich as did it. Cornbread was delicious! Great experience! Highly recommended, and we will def be making this a yearly routine. Thank you for your hospitality Trevor! Greatly appreciated!
