Had the Chipotle Cream Cheese Burger, it was delicious though I did scrap some of the cream cheese off, it was a little over empowering. The seasoned fries didn’t really have much of a distinctive flavor but they were wonderfully airy and crispy while light on the grease.

Good atmosphere. I really wanted to try the pizza but didn’t.. my bad. I would go with the special of a 5 shot and a mix in a 32-44oz cup for like $5-$6. Got there way too late to take advantage of that special.

The food was phenomenal (especially the fish tacos), and the staff were as quick and courteous as you could want. Great laid-back college bar feel, and the pool table was free! Lunch fare doesn’t get much better than this.

Great food! The grilled chicken salads are especially good, as well as the Sunday breakfast buffet! If you get the chance you should definitely check it out. Neat atmosphere with good music. It’s a lot less crowded than some of the other places in town.

Went in there this evening for wing Wednesday since I was in town. Grabbed a booth, sat for 20 min with them at less than 50% capacity and never even got looked at. Good food but service this time was horrible. I left and went to bricks rockin bbq and it was delicious

Issues with inventory… ordered a Fat Tire beer…out. Ordered fried mushrooms….out. Settled for fried pickles that were so salty they weren’t edible. The Teriyaki wings were burnt, too salty and non edible. The waitress was very nice and gave us great service and compensated us for the fried pickles. To be fair my husband did not complain about the wings..but they were bad. The atmosphere is great but the food brings the rating way down!

This used to be a top tier place to go in Hays. I’m not sure what happened. A party of three waited 50 minutes for three incorrect orders. All three orders were missing items. Bacon was burnt (have picture for reference if needed) or not delivered. Toast was not actually toasted. Breakfast potatoes were ordered with cheese, not delivered as such, and charged extra when cheesy potatoes were brought over. Eggs were not cooked correctly or not delivered at all. And all around, the food was less than average. There was a new cashier that should’ve had her work double checked before sending orders out and running up the tickets.

After 3 years, still my favorite bar in town. Best wings, best sweet potato fries, best bartenders, best atmosphere, and best place to grab lunch or a drink before heading to another class. The music is never too loud to have a conversation and they’ll almost always switch the TV to whatever game you’re hoping to watch. Seriously great bar.

On the Rocks is a *great* restaurant masquerading as a student bar. Come in and you’ll see why – the sandwiches, salads, Tuesday nachos, Friday prime rib, fry platters – they are a cut above. In many cases, they’re the best in Hays. And for a very reasonable price. And the staff really busts it’s backside to serve you well, even when it’s crowded. Which it often is.
