We to stumbled upon this place while driving through Hanalei. Not sure where the lower star reviews come to play, but we had a wonderful experience. We did wait a few extra minutes to be seated, but that didn’t bother us because we were on vacation and we don’t stress too much over things like that. The scenery is just amazing. We took great pictures with our family outside, and just loved the colorful day that we experienced. Our waiter was Todd, a down to earth musician guy from California. We had a great conversation with him since we are also from there originally.

This is one of the only restaurants on the north shore that is in very close proximity to the beach with amazing views of the waves. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food came out pretty quickly. The fish and chips and fish sandwiches we ordered were fresh and delicious and the Hawaiian cocktails were top notch. The owner Greg seemed like a great guy and really appreciated us eating at his restaurant. Definitely check this place out if you are driving to the north east side of the island.

We stayed for a week on Kauai and this was the best meal we had on our entire trip. All 5 of us ordered fish n chips. The fish was Ono and it was delicious. It’s not a fancy restaurant but felt authentic. We loved being able to walk outside and look at the ocean while we waited for our food. We will definitely eat here again

Very much a mixed bag at Opakapaka. The positives include a gorgeous drive out there, an amazing view of the ocean from your table, good sized portions of every entree we ordered, delicious fish & chips and loco moco. They had live music playing, too.

Our family of 5 ate here and had the best time possible. We were greeted at the door and it was fantastic from that point on. Greg and his team did an amazing job of making us feel welcome. He really knows how to connect to people. The food was equally good as the people working there. The fish tacos were the best I’ve had in 10 days on the islands. The fish and chip were equally good. My son’s hamburger was great as well. There is also a wonderful view. I only wish we had gone sooner in our trip so we could have gone more than once. It was a perfect last night though. If you’re concerned about the drive, it’s worth it!! Thanks Greg and Harper said to say thank you for the shirt.

The food was amazing. Grilled fish sandwich was so yummy. The special was poke nachos. We ordered one as an appetizer to share with 8 people and it was plenty and so so good! Highly recommend the drive to the north shore to eat at the Opakapaka grill.

Spectacular! What a fabulous find while we were exploring the island. Food was fresh and wonderfully presented. Restaurant was on the water which we had a nice table overlooking. The place looks unassuming, almost dated but this is what gives it charm.
