In Rochester, NY, this is the best Italian bakery I have visited- I wouldn’t say it’s up to par with the best bakeries in New York City (specifically Rudy’s)— however, in Rochester- hands down the best!

Needed a quick bite on a Saturday so thought I’d try it her, been wanting to stop in once so here it is. Small inside but yet roomy. Sandwich was very good and plenty to eat, took half home. Server and service was very nice, and friendly. Many gelato flavors (never had gelato before) to choose and it was very good. You can mix flavors also. I plan on going back soon, as I really enjoyed my meal. There is outdoor seating and I hear there is music on weekends. Cheers and enjoy.

I almost exclusively only come here for the gelato and it is so delicious. During the summer, I would come here almost once a week. Much better than Abbott’s or the other ice cream places. The staff is very nice and the small coffee shop atmosphere is very fitting.

We stopped at Oriens Café on a Sunday afternoon for gelato based on a friend’s glowing recommendation. Although there was no line, we waited several minutes for two employees in a back room to finish their conversation before they begrudgingly acknowledged us. We each ordered a gelato to eat at the café and a pastry to take home. The server seemed impatient and annoyed when we asked a couple of questions about the gelato flavors and the pastries. We appreciated the shaded tables outdoors, where we enjoyed our gelato without feeling rushed. We each had two scoops of gelato: cannoli (meh), magic candy bar (or cookie bar, maybe? — it was okay), strawberry cheesecake (it tasted like fake strawberries and red food dye) and peanut butter chocolate (which was excellent!). The food and service are very good. Their Italian pastries and gelato are excellent. I was, however, disappointed that they are still, in this day and age, using non-environmentally responsible materials, styrofoam containers, single use plastic containers and plastic bags. I’d like to see them become more conscious of the need to decrease non- biodegradable materials and protect our environment.

With the positive first,,their gelato is amazing and the food is good. Negative..I have given this place a shot in terms of ordering dessert to go probably a handful of times, the last time being last night. The desserts are just not good! I tried to give them the benefit of doubt, I really did. Last night I got a piecenof orange ricotta cake. First off it was quite obviously previously frozen and the cake itself was not moist but weirdly textured. Have you ever had the desserts at an asian buffet and how “meh” and almost manufactured it tasted? It finally dawned on me that is how Orien’s desserts taste. On that note, I will go back for the gelato (love the cannoli one) and the food…done with the desserts.
