The shrimp is the absolute best ever. My husband does not eat seafood so he had the hamburger steak one day and the marinated chicken breast the other. He absolutely loved both. He had not ever been there before and discovered the Datil Pepper Sauce. Discovering that alone would have made his trip.

Just some of the best fried shrimp anywhere, served with a friendly smile in a down home, down to earth atmosphere, like it’s been done for over half a century. Service is always quick and efficient, but you will wait at busy times at least an hour, maybe two to get in. That’s fine, if you didn’t bring cash that gives you time to make some quick, cause you can’t eat here without it.

Awesome restaurant we happened upon. You could tell it was a favorite of the locals and for good reason. Great food, friendly staff and you don’t wait long for your food. They specialize in fried shrimp and overheard a waitress telling someone at the next table they sell 200-300 lbs of shrimp each day. That’s a lot of shrimp and tells you how popular the place is. Highly recommend this place especially if you like fried shrimp.

This place is crazy busy all the time. While not having really anything Gluten Free on the menu, I did have the shrimp salad lunch special that was outstanding. If you want fried seafood this is the place to go but get there early or expect to wait. Great atmosphere but it is a cramped space. There is definitely a reason people like to eat here though. You will not go hungry and the waitresses definitely take care of you.

This is the place to come if you want the best fried shrimp! I have been eating here for 40 years and I have never been disappointed. The wait is worth it but we usually don’t wait…we just order takeout and then drive a mile down the road to the lighthouse park and sit on a picnic table under the beautiful oaks and enjoy our shrimp. The best!!!

The seafood platter is awesome and I specifically love the crab cake. The cucumber in the appetizer is super delicious and goes perfectly with fried seafood as it helps to clear the greasiness in your mouth.

Having lived in Jax for many years I’ve always heard about O’Stean’s and for whatever reason it’s never worked out where I could try it, until this weekend. We were in the area and made a to-go order (good thing, because it was packed and had just opened and on a weekday). It was worth the wait. It’s nothing crazy, but good, fresh and clean fried shrimp. Not overly seasoned, or battered or oily. You could distinctly taste the shrimp. The cashier was very sweet and polite and the place looked clean. Please note it’s cash or FL checks only, but they have an ATM behind there.

The bad: It took us an hour and 20 mins to get seated after telling us it would be 40 mins. My son-in-law is in a wheelchair. The restaurant was cramped to the gills and quite small. Once seated, we felt it took forever for the waitress to take our orders. The not-so-bad: Food was good, but poor choices of sides. Fried okra would have been delicious! Decent pricing.

This place is a staple of St. Augustine….there is a reason they been around since 1965….not sure they have even had an opportunity to remodel in that time either…lol….but the food was amazing…we got there 20 minutes after they opened and there was a wait of about 5 to 10 minutes already….that ahould tell you all you need to know….we have been coming here for years and years…now we have a new favorite restaurant on the list!!
